Giving yourself a daily pep-talk can be incredibly empowering. Whether you need to push yourself through a tough moment or motivate yourself to make a change, these mantras will help you feel powerful and capable.

When I’m faced with a tough situation, these are some of my go-to phrases to tell myself. I often repeat them in my head when I’m challenged more than I think I can handle.

10 Powerful Mantras To Give You Self-Confidence

1. I can do hard things.

You are capable of doing hard things. You can climb any mountain and overcome any obstacle. Hard things are often the most worthwhile things to do. They teach us things about ourselves we would never learn otherwise. You can do hard things.

2. Even a bad day is only 24 hours.

We all have bad days. Sometimes we have bad weeks or months. But you know what? They will eventually end.

Your current situation is not your final destination. You will get through what you’re facing.

A bad day is still a day. And a day is only 24 hours. Breathe through it.

3. I am worth the extra effort.

You would go the extra mile for a friend, wouldn’t you? Why not for yourself?

Remind yourself on a regular basis that you are worth the extra effort. Whether it comes to your self-care strategies, rewriting your internal dialogue, or getting yourself to exercise or save money. You are worth the extra effort.

4. There’s nothing I can’t do.

I love saying this when I feel pushed to my limits. Growth is what happens when you push those limits. When I’ve gone as far as I think I can go, I remind myself that there is nothing I can’t do. I am powerful — but it’s up to me to tap into that power.

5. Tears lead to strength.

Sometimes the best thing we can do for ourselves is to let ourselves cry. It’s healthy to experience a range of emotions. We can experience these emotions without acting on them. Sometimes a good cry is all we need to move past a tough situation.

Let the tears flow, and as your eyes empty themselves, you will be filled with strength. Tears are part of the renewal process. Embrace them and let yourself grow.

6. I can find strength in pain.

I might be borrowing from a Mumford and Sons lyric with this one, but it’s very true. Every tough thing you go through is making you stronger. Grow through what you go through and you’ll be better off for it.

7. I choose positive thoughts.

It’s easy to get caught up in negativity. Gossip, someone else’s venting session, a negative post on social media… you can choose to block out all of it.

Our internal dialogues are very powerful in the way we perceive ourselves. If you feel yourself spiraling down a negative hole, remind yourself that you choose positive thoughts.

Speak kindly to yourself. Be gentle when you need it. Encourage yourself. You are your own greatest ally.

8. I am in control of my actions.

You can’t control what other people do. To an extent, you can’t control what happens because of other people’s actions. However, you are in control of how you react. You’re in control of what you choose to do. No one can “make” you do anything. You are an individual and you are in control of your actions.

9. I am responsible for myself.

Remind yourself that you are responsible for your actions, thoughts, words, and how you treat other people. We have a duty to be kind to others but at the end of the day, you are the person responsible for yourself.

10. I am powerful.

I couldn’t finish this list without this one. Speaking to yourself repeatedly saying, “I am powerful” will change the way you see yourself.

You have an innate power within you to achieve greatness. And you were born with unique talents and skills and have life experience that no one else has. You are powerful, and it’s that power is already within you.
