self-love self-doubt

“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.”

– Lucille Ball

Eliminating Self-Doubt

The majority of the time, our inner-critic eats away at all that we do. We tend to rejoice the negatives and disregard the positives. For example;

“I’ve lost 10 pounds, but I’m not wearing a bikini because I still haven’t got a beach body”

“That twitter post reached 5,000 people this week, but I still didn’t make a sale”

“My facebook group reached 1,000 members within 6 months, but I’m still not as good as …”

When we look at ourselves in the mirror, we tend to focus on all of the flaws, failings and negative experiences. This mindset limits us to how much love we can share with ourselves as we don’t see ourselves as worthy. We need to learn how to accept and admire ourselves for who we are as we deserve to be happy!

It’s time to change that thinking and REJOICE the positives and LEARN from the negatives.

12 Ways To Love Yourself

  1. Time a moment to celebrate the wins – no matter how small. Acknowledge your accomplishments and value your work.
  1. Surrender to the present moment, where problems do not exist as this is where you will find bliss. The Power of Now is a great Spiritual Guide to help you learn how to live in the moment.
  1. Stop comparing yourself to others. It is only going to lead to self-destruction. People achieve success and fail at different rates.
  1. Your appearance is key to making you feel good about yourself. It doesn’t have to be in a vain or superficial way, pamper yourself because you deserve it! Caring about how you look, so you can feel great is one of the first steps to boosting your self-esteem.
  1. As long as you’re happy and healthy, your body fat percentage does not account for who you are as a person. Feel good in your own skin.
  1. Learn to laugh at yourself. If you have been walking about all day with toilet roll stuck to your shoe, don’t stress or feel embarrassed. Laugh it off!
  1. Be yourself. You will be happier for embracing your true self rather than putting on an act that will be exhausting to keep up with.
  1. Affirm yourself and practice breathing techniques. For example, “I am worthy, I am good, I am enough”, or “Left foot, right foot, breathe”, experiment and find out what works for you.
  1. Take it easy. Slowing down is a form of self-respect. Scale back how often you check your tech.
  1. Learn to forgive yourself and others. Holding a grudge will only drain you of energy, find a way to forgive.
  1. Accept the things you can not change.
  1. Make sure you focus on yourself as a number one priority, before trying to please anyone else.

Remember that criticism kills your inner spirit and praise builds it up! Praise yourself as much as you can. Face your inner critic today and tell yourself how well you are doing with every little thing.
