yin yoga

If you are tired of all, go for Yin Yoga…

Stressed, tired of all? Telling yourself, if you could have something to release all these tensions, without any effort? Well, I’ll tell you, Yin Yoga.

I am a feverish fan of Yoga. But many times in different retreats, I was anxious about the difficulties of the poses. With Hatha Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga, sometimes you can be highly challenged, believe me.

The ideal, I dreamed, would be a great Yoga class, where I just relax, doing nothing. At the same time, my body works, and my mind finds its peace. It sounds impossible. But though, it is here at your reach. Yin Yoga.

Yin Yoga is a kind of yoga where the philosophy of life is just within: “We follow the cosmic order”

I discovered Yin Yoga in a zazen retreat a long time ago. And I was immediately charmed by its beauty and elegance.

Yin Yoga is a kind of yoga where the philosophy of life is just within: “We follow the cosmic order”. No effort. No tension. No imposition. No force. Just relax, breathe, enjoy, and listen.

3 reasons why I love Yin Yoga

Here are a few reasons why I love Yin Yoga (and you should consider too!)

1. Yin Yoga offers a unique opportunity to cultivate gratitude for the body

Yin yoga represents the feminine energy of our body. It offers a possibility to listen to our inner voice. The poses are long and in a total relaxed positions. You have time to deeply listen to each and every part of our body. Feel the relaxation of facial muscles. Honor the wonders of your whole body. Yin Yoga provides a perfect moment to be mindful and grateful for each and every cell.

2. Yin yoga helps us slow down

Unlike Hatha or Vinyasa yoga where the vigorous movements and flow of the body are valued, Yin yoga, her, offers a slowness. “When you allow yourself to stay present and experience the near-imperceptible shifts that occur while holding a yin posture, time opens up” (Shannon Stephens). No competition, no time chasing, nothing to do… Time seems to stop its ever-running clock in standstill instants.

3. Yin yoga is restorative but effortless

Anyone who does not love doing things without effort? If you ever knew about all the benefits of Yin yoga, you’d be surprised about the way she achieves it. Reduce stress, increase circulation, balance of internal organs, relieve tensions, improve flexibility… And all these in apparently immobile poses. These come from the two principles that differentiate yin practice from other yoga traditions. It holds poses for at least several minutes and stretching the connective tissue around a joint. To do the latter, the overlying muscles must be relaxed. That’s why Yin yoga is at the same time very relaxing, and effective. I’ve put together a few suggestions for Yin Yoga poses when you are in burnout, tired and lack of energy.

Why not start Yin Yoga today…

Have an impulse to start your yoga, but afraid that it might be too difficult? Or feel tired, stressed, and don’t find the energy for energetic yoga poses? Don’t worry, try Yin yoga. There are 3 main reasons why it could potentially gain your heart: With her long immobile poses, Yin Yoga cultivates deep gratitude to your body. It helps you slow down. It is restorative but almost effortless.

I put down here a great video from Adriene with suggestions for easy poses for Yin yoga at home. It can be a great start when you just want to discover it. Enjoy!
