“Who can explain good fortune…” that’s what Jim Rohn, the great American business philosopher, used to say.

I was introduced to Jim’s work through hearing Tony Robbins talk about him in numerous interviews. I just happened to have gotten a free Jim Rohn CD with one of my orders so, despite my skepticism, I decided to give Jim a go.

Jim liked to start off his lectures with a corny joke but quickly moved into insights into business, psychology, health, productivity, and life. More reserved than the uber-passionate Tony Robbins, Jim had a very laid back style.

What I learned from Jim changed my life and I would recommend everyone pick up either his Weekend Seminar audio program or if books are more your thing, his Leading An Inspired Life are a great place to start.

I personally have every program and book of Jim’s that I could get my hands on and have taken 440 pages of notes (yes, that is not a typo).

Jim Rohn’s philosophy has affected every area of my life and is the man I accredit with putting it all together for me, so I thought why not share some of my favorite Jim quotes.

I came up with 21. All brilliant, simple, powerful quotes that could change your life.

1. Don’t wish it were easier, wish you were better.

2. Set a goal to become a millionaire for what it will make of you to become one.

3. What’s easy to do is also easy not to do.

4. Success is a few simple disciplines practiced every day.

5. Time is more valuable than money. You can get more time, but you can’t get more money.

6. If you don’t like the way things are, change! You are not a tree.

7. Motivation alone is not enough. If you have an idiot and you motivate him, now you have a motivated idiot.

8.  Learning is the beginning of wealth. Learning is the beginning of health. Learning is the beginning of spirituality. Searching and learning is where the miracle process all begins.

9.  There are only 3 colors, 10 digits, and 7 notes; it’s what we do with them that’s important.

10. Formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a fortune.

11.  Success is neither magical nor mysterious. Success is the natural consequence of consistently applying the basic fundamentals.

12. Make measurable progress in reasonable time.

13. It is the set of the sails, not the direction of the wind that determines which way we will go.

14. The book you don’t read won’t help.

15. When you know what you want, and want it bad enough, you will find a way to get it.

16. Miss a meal if you have to, but don’t miss a book.

17. We get paid for bringing value to the marketplace.

18. You must either modify your dreams or magnify your skills.

19. There are three things to leave behind, your photographs, your library and your personal journals.

20. Most homes valued at over $250,000 have a library. That should tell us something.

21. Learn to work harder on yourself than you do on your job.
