I know how frustrating it can be:

You started with the dream of reaching the sky in your blogging and writing career. You’ve drilled yourself and taken every step to ensure you achieve those lofty goals. You’ve sent pitches for the umpteenth time and, every time you got rejected. You said to yourself, “I’ll try again today – it might just be my day.”

Disappointingly, again, you were rejected with an unwelcome “I am sorry, we do not need your service.”

And you were thinking: is it worth all the stress? …the frustration? …the disappointment?

The truth is;

You are not alone!

At a point in life, we all share the same experience. But the only difference is that only those whose resolve and determination are high pull through. Winston Churchill once said: “it is not your failure that determines who you are, it is your reaction to failure.”

What did you do when you fell? Did you rise and dust your sleeves, or remain sorrowful and stagnant? That’s what differentiate the successful people from the unsuccessful. Successful people are unstoppable in the pursuit of their dream. They fail, but they never stop learning from their mistakes and trying again in a better way. Confucius was right when he said:

“Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall”, said Zig Ziglar

Below are 4 Quick Check to rekindle your Winning Psyche

  1. Take a Break

A very good way to rekindle your strength is to take a break, a day or more. During this period, reward yourself for the work done so far. A lot of people think that reward is only appropriate for success, but it can be more effective to reward yourself even if you’ve failed.

Yes! Go to the gym. Buy yourself a pizza, hang out with friends, and visit the cinema. Do things that will you happy and relieved.

This will freshen and sharpen your mental, emotional and physical state. It will boost your morale to try again and it may be your hinge to connecting the missing dots.

  1. Bring Back the Goal

When we are disappointed in the tasks we do there is a natural lax in the manner in which we pursue our goals. Some ill thoughts start creeping in. Thoughts of doubt, of fear. What people don’t realize is that these feelings are natural and signals to success and those self-limiting thoughts must be nipped in the bud.

You have to bring back the goal, alive. Ask yourself; “What are the things that fuel your passion at the beginning of the project.” Remind yourself about the reward and fulfilment you aimed at the inception of the project. It may also help to read about those who persisted and finally pull through.

At a point, I got frustrated as a blogger. I was cold pitching tens of companies in a day to advertise my services, but now and then comes the rejection. Some mild, and most blunt. I was getting tired, but every time I remembered my goal of a beautiful life for my mother, and my family I know quitting is not a choice. It started paying off when I put my goal higher than its challenges.

The key is for you to find a purpose nothing can stop you from achieving. If you have a pinch left of your soul, what is that thing you wished for? If you’ve got that, then keep pushing.

3. Change Your Strategy

“If you don’t have a strategy, you’re part of someone else’s strategy.” ― Alvin Toffler

You should reassess yourself and ask blunt questions:

Have I been pitching and writing wrongly?

Is my approach good enough to bring me to my goal?

What things should I do to ace my game?

In her book Sudden Death, Rita Mae Brown said: “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.”

Invest in yourself and seek ways to improve your skills every day.

The late American writer, futurist, and businessman Alvin Toffler said: “the illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn.”

It is not too late to start learning again. Move out of your comfort zone, and be innovative.

4. Be Hungry and Optimistic

On February 15, 1978, the legendary boxer Muhammad Ali was defeated by Leon Spinks at the Las Vegas Hilton Sports Pavilion. A crowd of 5,300 was shocked to witness the defeat, Ali too. He had underrated Leon Spinks, the unheralded kid from the St Louis ghetto.

Not bowing to defeat, Ali started training harder than he had in many years. He did over 1000 sit-ups a day and run several miles a day with a lose-weight diet routine before his rematch with Leon.

He was hungry. He knew he had to do more to recover, and he did. He came back to reclaim his title as the World Heavyweight Champion on September 15, 1978.

When you become hungry to achieve your goals, you become unstoppable and unrelenting. If you want to reach your goal you have to be hungry and optimistic.

This is the time for you to kill the “can’t do” spirit holding you back from pursuing your dreams.

Now is the time to yell at the top of your voice and say “I can do it.”

I know you’ve tried hard, but this is the time you have to try harder. This is time to remind yourself of your goals, and the fulfilment that comes after achieving them. This is the time to reassess your strategy and invest in yourself.

You owe this to yourself; to live your dream and impact the world.

Bury the thoughts that you can’t achieve your goals or live your dream.

Be Hungry! Do the “extra” and stop being ordinary.

Be Optimistic and never give up.

Do It Right, Do It Wrong, Just Do It…

Now!
