Being fit is one of the major contributors for people to be healthy, however with loads of sugars and fats in our foods and little physical work we tend to be overweight. Obesity after a particular level could be very harmful and causes our organs not to function properly. So, it’s essential to get our body fit to work correctly.

However, going to the gym or doing exercises or yoga could be very boring to many and this causes to lose interest quickly. To avoid this, you can opt for sports you like which would burn your calories in an exciting way. Here are five calorie-burning sports to get you fit and healthy.

Running

Yeah, this is an exercise more than a sport, but at 1000+ calories burned per hour at 8km/hr, this is by far the highest calorie burning sport. You can make running interesting by going in groups, go to a place where people do running and make friends. This way you can chat with them, increase your social circle while running and getting fit therefore making it less boring. I would prefer not to use a treadmill as it would be more artificial, especially if you are young.

Tennis

With a right amount of practice and the opponent player who is at your level of the game could make it an exciting game. Tennis is a game which is enjoyed as long the rhythm in the game is placed, no one like the game if they are losing or winning all the time. To make sure your game is exciting you have to play with a player who is on par with you. Also, make sure you play in singles as it helps you to burn more calories than doubles. While playing tennis most of your body gets a right amount of exercise from head to toes as you will constantly be moving. Tennis is not preferred for people who have bad knees or ankles.

Basketball

Well, basketball is not everyone’s piece of cake, it requires a good physique, skill and interest, without these you wouldn’t enjoy the game much. However, if you are having at least two of those, then sure you could enjoy the game and start burning calories. Since it’s a group game, you need to be a people person if not it may get backfired. Basketball is an exciting game and can burn a lot of calories which is estimated to be 700+ calories per hour. That’s a right amount of burn compared to plenty of other activities.

Golf

Unlike most of the sports, Golf could be a lot more boring than exercise and yoga if you are not interested. It involves a lot of analyzing, walking, and estimating to get the ball in the hole. Also, it requires to know basic knowledge of Golf that may not seem anywhere near basic. As it had plenty of terminologies, types of clubs, gadgets like Golf GPS, and a lot more are involved in playing, So, if you are not interested or don’t have any friends who could get you through the basic, then it would be a lot more frustrating. However, if you love to play or have the urge to learn the game, then it can help you to lose a lot of calories if you are going to walk and carry your clubs.

Martial arts

At some point in time, every one of us had an idea to learn some form of martial arts like karate, Aikido, Jiu-Jitsu or other forms. Whatever form of martial arts it may be as long as it had a good amount of body movement they could help you to burn a lot of calories. They could burn at a rate of 700 to 1000 calories per hour depending on what form and how active you are. However, finding an excellent teacher to help you learn the martial arts could be challenging depending on the type you are interested in. So, if you could find a good teacher in your local area, then its fine if not you can find plenty of courses on the Internet and YouTube.

I do feel I have missed plenty of sports like swimming, volleyball, soccer, skiing and much more which could have added to the list. Overall these are some of the sports that help you to get fit and healthy.
