I was probably only using 75% of my potential…

That’s a huge problem for those of us who want to feel like we’ve made the most of our life. Took me three years to get to the point where I could get the clarity and courage to actually do something about it though…

I know it’s hard to leave a traditional-ish track, especially when you’ve got a great job. Don’t be surprised if you start to feel irresponsible for even thinking about it…

The truth is it’s more irresponsible to keep a great job that means nothing to you because that means you’re holding on to something someone else will actually value!

With that said, what’s most important is where you find your true joy, inner fulfillment and value…

So before you start thinking about changing things that might have significant impact on you, pause for a minute and consider these five surprising reasons you might actually not be fulfilled in what you do:

  1. You’re living off of someone else’s script for your life.
  2. You haven’t forgiven yourself for it.
  3. You’re surrounded by people that don’t align with your core values. And your boundaries aren’t strong enough to know how to address those people to teach them how to treat you.
  4. You’re spending too much time doing the wrong things outside of work.
  5. You don’t truly know what you want out of life.

The good news is none of these mean you have to leave your job. The other news is you might have some homework to do…

Life’s not meant to be lived on auto-pilot. It happens, though. And sometimes we need to break the cycle. So just remember all change starts with you. Not necessarily the environment around you.

Over the last few years I’ve had to do a lot of homework of my own. From feeling the depth of not being fulfilled, to leaving corporate world without a plan, to experiencing both financial and personal loss…

But it’s through those trials I’ve been forced to confront the more difficult questions we would otherwise avoid:

Who am I really?

Why am I hear?

What really makes me come alive?

And how can I practically share that with others to make a real, positive difference in their lives?

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this:

You’ve got so much power to take control of your life. Fear is often disguised as indecision, leaving you stagnant while limiting the impact you’re meant to have on this world…

There will come a time when you’re ready to take full ownership over your life. When you’re ready to make a real change, personally or professionally…

The first thing you need to do is make the choice to believe there is more to life than a daily grind that leaves you feeling anything but truly fulfilled.

You should feel hungry to start each day! If you’re not, then you need to surround yourself with people who know there is a different way. And then you need to take it upon yourself to go find it…
