If our Big Life Goals are fluffy around the edges and not clearly defined, the results that we achieve will also be a little nondescript. Without focused and intentional actions towards the life you wish you create, you could find yourself running around in circles doing “busy work” that does nothing but wear you out without moving you forwards.
Here are 5 tips to help you get really clear on your Big Life Goals.
1: Create the story of your life 5 years from now.
What will you be doing?
Who will you be doing it with?
In what way will your average day be different from your average day now?
Once you get clear on the way your life looks in the future you can implement strategies and steps to get you there in the most time and energy efficient way possible.
2: Decide upon your Why.
Why do you want to land that client?
Why do you want to live in a house like that?
Why do you want to live and work in that location?
Why do you want to breakthrough that financial barrier?
Having money goals is great but the money alone won’t be enough to carry you through the trickiest times in your business. Having a really good Why will carry you through most things. Ask yourself why you want to earn that money and what satisfaction or fulfilment will earning that money bring you that you don’t already have.
3: Visualise the way you want your life to FEEL.
If you know that you don’t want your life to feel super stressed it will help you to avoid giving yourself unnecessary stress. And if you know that you want to have the freedom to spend time with your family, go to the ballgame or the theatre, you will become more focused on completing your tasks in a way that allows that freedom to be a part of your life.
Write out how your perfect day feels to you. Put yourself into that situation and really enjoy being there as you imagine the sights and smells and noises of that day. Keep it firmly in your mind and strive to recreate it in your current life.
4: Decide that you won’t let your past dictate your future.
Many things that have happened in our pasts could prevent us from moving forwards with our dreams as we have made them into a barrier. Whatever has happened in the past, if we can view it as a stepping stone, or a learning opportunity we will know that everything happens for us and not to us. Flipping negative emotions into empowering ones will enable us to keep moving forwards instead of dwelling on the past. It keeps us failing fast and getting back up again which will give us the momentum we need to succeed on all of our desires.
5: Are you playing big enough?
Often we diminish our potential because we don’t play big enough. We don’t take the risk of being all that we can be because fear of failure or rejection stop us from really going for it. If you look at your vision of the future, is it really all that you aspire to becoming? If fear was no obstacle, could you want more for yourself? In your future vision, are you having the extent of the impact you could be having upon the world? Playing too small will bring us down so make sure that your dreams live up to your potential.
