Life can get tough. Things may not go well in life. And it is important to stay optimistic in dark times. This helps all of us to survive through and see the light at the end of the tunnel.

But sometimes, we lose focus and forget how to stay optimistic. Here are my top 5 reminders:

1.Knowing that we are all in this world together. We may be experiencing joy, sadness, excitement or confusion. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Chances are, we go through ups and downs in life. It is easy to get caught up with any unpleasant experience we face. But we are all in this world together. So let’s relax. We all have 24/7 in a day to get through. At the end of today, there is tomorrow for yet another beginning.

2. Finding things in common from people we look up to. It helps to examine people we look up to and see how to live, how they deal with successes and how they deal with failures. Chances are, you will realize that we are all humans. We all make mistakes. We all have to deal with challenges in life. And if “they” can do it, “we” can do it too.

3. Realizing failure is a prerequisite to success. It is easy to get disappointed and discouraged from a set back, a failure or a road block. But that’s just the prerequisite to any chance of success. If we need to succeed, we need to learn how to face failure and learn from it to move on.

4. Be grateful we are surrounded by a strong support system. Maintaining a sense of gratitude is important to keep us all grounded in this place called life. We need to pay attention to things that we are grateful for, the people that are in our lives to support us through good and bad times. Shifting the focus on gratitude helps us to maintain our optimism.

5. Realizing life is a journey with ups and downs. Make the most out of life with your own unique definition. Finally, we decide how to live, how to reach our goals and how to define success or failure. We have a control of our perception in life. We can tell ourselves to stay optimistic. Because after all, light is at the end of the tunnel.
