From the outside looking in, the fashion world can seem like a scary and an intimidating place. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Because, when you think about it, a lot of fashion boils down to having a personal sense and a personal style. And when it comes to having a personal style – a lot of it is based around you. So, you probably already have a unique style based on what you wear and what you like. And if you’re looking to improve that, here’s how.

1. Go online!

There is so much stuff to talk about when it comes to fashion in the online world that listing them all would take forever. Nowadays, finding someone with a fashion style you like and look up to is easier than ever. On Instagram alone, there are so many models who post their outfits that you don’t have to look twice to get inspired. Aside from social media, there are also sites that host fashion dress up games that allow you to experiment with different looks and get an idea of what matches and what doesn’t.

2. Create a personal brand.

What you wear says a lot about you, whether you like it or not. And your clothes are one of the main components of your personal brand (which you already have). So, take your lifestyle and goals into consideration, know where you’ll be spending most of your time and build your wardrobe around that.

3. Confidence.

A lot of what you wear is about confidence. If you’ve ever seen something you liked but thought you couldn’t wear it, because it’s just “not you”, you have to push those thoughts back. Remember, if you’re self-conscious about what you wear, people will probably notice that. This is why confidence is so important. If you’re confident about it (even if you’re faking it), meanwhile, people won’t blink twice about what you’re rocking. And you will most definitely be rocking it if you believe in yourself.

4. Change it up.

Colors are important. But so is changing them up. If you’ve always worn darker shades of clothing, try wearing bright colors and see how that goes. Not everything has to be black and white. Experimenting with colors is a great way to see what you like and what you don’t. And you don’t have to be an expert in color theory either. You just have to find what you think looks good and go with that.

5. Have fun.

The most important step. If you’re not having fun in the first place – what’s the point? Fashion might seem hard at first but it depends on your approach. Even if it means treating it likes to dress up fashion game, as long as you have fun and like what you’re wearing – everything else is secondary. No one can tell you what looks good and what doesn’t if you like what you wear. Fashion is personal and so is your approach to it.
