We go through various things in life that break us apart, drain our energy or make us feel low. At some point, it seems that nothing can be changed. At moments of sadness, fear, anxiety, irritation or stress, the first thing you should do is to take care of yourself.

Personal well-being should be a priority for everyone. What is behind the term “well-being”? It’s happiness inside you. When you don’t know how to restore the energy and inner balance, try some of these things. You can think they are simple, but the effect might surprise you a lot.

1. Travel Alone

Break off the daily routine, take time to be alone, to clear your head and put thoughts in the right order. Traveling alone is a great way to do so. Even if you don’t like it, once you try it – it can become a regular thing.

Solitude calms your soul as you take some time off to think. Some people choose traveling alone regularly. Do you remember the movie “Wild”? Cheryl goes hiking on Pacific Crest Trail to heal. Trails like this can be found all over the world from the most popular walking route in Spain – Santiago Ways to Great Himalayan Trail in Nepal, etc.

Bounding with nature, meeting new people, seeing new places, all of these can benefit your well-being, revive the energy and strengthen your guts.

2. Dance (When No One Sees)

Any type of physical activity adds to your well-being and helps to release stress or negative energy. Dancing is one of those activities.

Try taking a dance class, classic dances or Latino ones, it doesn’t matter. Moving to rhythms of the music helps you to clear your head and relax your body.

It’s even not that necessary to take classes and learn the right moves. If you’re tired or some thoughts are constantly buzzing in your head, come home, turn on your favorite music and just dance. Dance alone, when no one sees you (except for neighbors), so you can move the way you want to. Believe, it’s a great way to get rid of stress.

3. Go Offline for a Day

How much time do you spend a day surfing the Internet or scrolling down your social media accounts? Two-three hours a day. It’s a lot of time that can be spent on something useful instead.

It’s impossible to live without phones/laptops and the Internet nowadays. But you can have one day a week when you turn off your phone and spend some quality time with your family, friends, or even alone.

4. Get a Good Sleep

That’s not new but we keep forgetting that nothing restores our bodies and mind as a night of good sleep. During the weekends turn off the alarm clock and have at least 8 hours of sleep.

5. Get Creative (Even If You Don’t Have a Talent)

Creatives is another form of meditation, so to say. When you concentrate on doing something that is different from regular activities, you give away the energy inside you and get inspired.

Visit an art studio and paint a picture you always wanted to hang on your wall. Don’t worry if you think that you are not talented enough, there are teachers and artists who can always help you.

Another way to get creative is to spend some time with children painting, playing, dancing, singing, etc. It’s up to you, just become a child for a while. Children have a lot of energy and good vibes to share, so you can easily restore the balance and escape usual chores for a while.

6. Go Gardening

Why gardening? Gardening is a great way to live in the moment, to bind with nature, and relieve stress. The National Institute of Health recommends spending 30-40 minutes in the garden 3-4 times a week.

It’s meditation and exercises combined. The studies have shown that gardening lowers chances of heart diseases or stroke, as well as burn calories. While gardening you enter  “altered state of consciousness” when you can meditate and put your thoughts into the right order.

The things listed above can help you get rid of stress, anxiety, irritation, etc. These are the ways for you to maintain the well-being of body and mind. Self-care is essential and we always have to remember it.
