We live in an overwhelming world: social media, information, news, everyday problems and challenges, relations, finances, health, …and the list goes on.
Lack of sleep, unhealthy food, and digital overload leaves us tired and depressed. But do we have to stay there, disconnected from a life that is meant to be beautiful? No!
If we are not doing so well in some areas but want to improve the quality of our lives, it sometimes seems like an impossible task. We wait for the right time to start that diet, change our nutrition, and get more sleep, but that time never comes.
As a result, we get angry, frustrated, disconnected, and find ourselves unable to get out of the vicious cycle.
But what if we just start! Starting is the most challenging part; after that, we get momentum. Start small, make little changes, and work your way from there.
Here are some practical ideas to rewire yourself and begin with a tiny change each day:
Day One: Starting the day by checking Instagram, Facebook, or the news, is not such an excellent way to get things going, they are not as important or inspiring as you think.
Better to try starting the day by practicing mindfulness, reading something positive and exciting, thinking about the good things: planning your life and setting goals for the day. Connecting with yourself first is a great way to start the day.
Day 2: Practice gratitude, write five things that are going great in your life at the time. Feel that spark of gratefulness with all your senses and emotions. Focus on what is right that day. Linger on the positive feelings it provides. Enjoy the moment.
See your future successes. Create a clear vision of how you want your life to be. Allow yourself to dream and think big. Use empowering words to describe yourself. Yes, you are awesome!
Day 3: This will be easier if you live in the countryside, if you live in the city, it may take some effort on your part, but if you try it, you won’t be disappointed.
Take a walk in nature, the forest, near the sea, a lake or just a park that has trees and flowers if you are in a big city, get away from your ordinary habitat. Nature has great healing powers for the mind and soul.
Day 4: Go to your kitchen, collect all the processed food that you see and put it in the garbage. Go to the local market and buy some fresh fruits and vegetables.
Go back home and put them in the kitchen and start eating healthy and nutritious food. Give it some time, and you will see an amazing difference in how you feel and how your sense of taste adapts.
Day 5: Re-schedule your evening activities and set up a sleeping schedule where you sleep a minimum of seven hours a night. Get your beauty sleep each night. Wake up energized and rested.
Minimize TV and the news; indulge in reading books or in hobbies and spending quality time with your loved ones.
Day 6: Get moving. Make taking a walk or going to the gym a part of your regular schedule. Just do it. It is not as hard as it sounds. You have the incredible capacity to accomplish whatever you set out to do.
Walk, run, dance, lift weights — do anything to keep your body moving at least four times a week.
Day 7: Meet with friends or go out to make new friends. Join a club or volunteer. Visit family members and socialize. Give your time and your love to make someone’s life better. Interact and establish proper human relations.
Cook a meal and sip wine in the process, invite your neighbors or relatives and close friends, keep in mind that the secret of living is giving.
Repeat the process.
