Here is a brief article to make you think as you go about your day. This is part 1 of a multi-part series on the need for a world full of peace, happiness and fulfillment. As well as how we can begin to implement this in our own lives and on a global scale.
There’s not a day that goes by that we see another unnecessary shooting, war, suicide or drug overdose. While our media has a heavy focus on these issues, it is a reality of the world we live in. People are unhappy, dying, hungry, malnourished and feeling the effects of constant violence and war. The United States has a huge military budget that rivals the economies of developing countries. Each day, there is some kind of violence or war waged against one another. What is going on? We need to stand up collectively and exclaim “No more!” If even a minuscule amount of our personal energy could be directed towards realizing the goal of world peace and fulfillment for humanity, I’m confident that we could start a great new transformative ascent that would last indefinitely!
“The key to solving all our problems — whether it be building a secure and lasting peace, protecting our environment, or overcoming economic difficulties — is to cast off apathy and preconceived notions that lead us to view a situation as unsolvable or unavoidable. Problems caused by human beings can be solved by human beings.” — Daisaku Ikeda, Buddhist Philosopher
What’s the point of this war and violence? I’m sorry but I think human consciousness has evolved passed the ideology of an “eye for an eye” type mentality. What are we teaching people when we kill people in a war for killing “our” people? Does this make any sense? I also think that it is cynical to that think that people are inherently violent. How many Einstein’s, Nelson Mandela’s or Martin Luther King Jr.’s were killed or died unnecessarily?
Let’s make history, by making 2017 the year we started our gradual ascent towards transforming our world from one of pain and suffering towards one of peace and fulfillment. We can do this!
