When you have the opportunity to ask some of the most interesting people in the world about their lives, sometimes the most fascinating answers come from the simplest questions. The Thrive Questionnaire is an ongoing series that gives an intimate look inside the lives of some of the world’s most successful people.

Thrive Global: What’s the first thing you do when you get out of bed?
Alexandra Blodgett: Roll out of bed and run outside. I always lay my clothing out the night before (a routine I started at age six on my first day of school). I don’t waste time deciding what to wear in the morning. I’m out of my apartment 20 minutes tops after I wake up.

TG: What gives you energy?
AB: This is an easy answer. I drink our Revere Pre-Energy every morning with super cold water. I am not a morning person, so I need a kick to get me up and going for a run before work. When I don’t get a little sweat in, always set to Rap Caviar, I feel lethargic all day.

TG: What’s your secret life hack?
AB: Citibike. I’m the nut in the dead of winter taking a Citibike to meetings. It’s so much faster than anything else!

TG: Name a book that changed your life.
AB: Freedom by Jonathan Franzen. I thought it was a very real and raw look at marriage—and more importantly how people change and grow—sometimes together and sometimes apart.

TG: Tell us about your relationship with your phone. Does it sleep with you?
AB: It sleeps next to me, because it’s my alarm clock, but it’s on silent and the screen faces down!

TG: How do you deal with email?
AB: Not well. I prefer texting, as it allows for more of a quick dialogue to resolve issues or make an action plan. It’s not as easy to let a text sit, like you can with an email inbox, and you can get succinct, immediate answers – less BS.

TG: You unexpectedly find 15 minutes in your day, what do you do with it?
AB: Call my family.

TG: When was the last time you felt burned out and why?
AB: I feel more burned out after weekends than weekdays. During the week, my routine is locked into work, sleep and healthy living. But on the weekends I’m often trying to catch up – I have a tough time balancing my social life with our early morning fitness activations for Revere. To allow myself more time to recharge, I’ve learned to value quality over quantity. One early event, not three, one amazing dinner party with my closest friends, not hopping from one thing to another.

TG: When was the last time you felt you failed and how did you overcome it?
AB: I feel like I have small fails every day, but I also have small wins. I just try to celebrate the wins and learn from the losses. If you have an optimistic and supportive team around you, it makes it so much easier. My partners (Matt and Jasper) and I are very closely knit. When one person fails, the other two make sure to lift them up. This attitude trickles down to the rest of our team. Mistakes happen, but it’s how others make you feel about them that really matters.

TG: Share a quote that you love and that gives you strength or peace.
AB: “We don’t burn bridges, we run them.” I believe that absolutely everything, and everyone, comes back around—so I do my best to gracefully bow out of relationships or deals that go sideways. You never know what the future will bring.
