As someone who is always overthinking and has a mind that never shuts off, I understand how easy it is to stress over the trials that are thrown at me in life. Whether it is work, family or financial issues, stress can take a toll on our physical, emotional and mental health. There are a number of ways to distress that will help you relax and get a goodnight’s sleep.

Sometimes you have to take a break from dealing with all of the tribulations of life and pamper yourself. Everyone needs a moment to get away and if a vacation across the world to be alone isn’t an option, there are number of easy things you can do to relax and escape from the life events that are bringing you down.

When life gives you lemons, warm up a cup of tea, add a lemon wedge and a few drizzles of honey. Chamomile or Lavender tea are great for relaxation and warming up the soul. A glass of red wine paired with some seasonal fruit is also a great way to unwind.

Along with drinking a soothing beverage, fill up the tub with some warm water and add your favorite bath bomb, body wash and a few drops of essential oils. Turn off the lights and light some candles for added ambiance. Make a playlist with some relaxing music to help ease your mind.

Another way to relax during times of stress is doing yoga and the best part is that it can be done at home. YouTube has a variety of videos of routines and poses for stress relief for all experience levels. You can do these poses anywhere in your house within your comfort zone. If yoga isn’t your preference for distressing rub some frankincense oil on your palms and take some time to meditate or pray.

Purchase a diffuser that you can put in your bedroom to use at night and research essential oil blends for stress relief. I use lavender, sweet orange and patchouli oil and when I wake up in the morning I feel refreshed and relaxed. Most diffusers have timers on them, so you can choose how long you want the oil blends to be dispersed throughout the room.

If you aren’t ready for bed, but you want to utilize the oil blends you can lay in your bed and curl up with a good book to help relieve stress. Read something that you enjoy and that will keep your mind off of the problems that you are currently dealing with.

Throughout life we all go through trials and tribulations that we have to face, but sometimes it is nice to get away and take a break from issues in our worlds. Remember that in order to take care of others and the problems you are dealing with, you have to take care of yourself first.
