Recently I had a conversation with a close friend about life, in particular living our truths. We came to the conclusion that it is so easy for us to live other’s truth because we respect their opinion, such as an older woman giving advice, or because they have experience in a certain area, such as a woman being married for 10 years. However, we must ask ourselves is her advice, her way of thinking, obsolete? Is her experience really just 10 years of dealing with a subpar husband for the sake of being married? We have to look deeper and question more.

As we sipped our coffees, I felt a burning energy inside of me that wanted to remind women that our intuition is right, that we innately know what is best for us, that we do not need a bunch of people telling us how to live our lives. Once we get that spark, we embark on a path to discover and live our truth. That path can involve reading books and blogs, going on retreats, or moving to a different city.

We shared our stories of how we found our truths.

For my friend, it was a matter of rejecting the advice from elders of how she should live her life. It was about letting her primordial woman essence take the lead and no longer playing it small.

For me, it was a matter of not accepting to live a mediocre life. It was about living unapologetically according to me. I’m not hurting anyone. Let me live.

The lives that people were trying to imprint on us never felt right. There was always a resistance that I felt in my body, in my chest and stomach area (heart and solar plexus chakras).

These acknowledgements came after deep self-reflection and talks.

Ladies, please don’t mistake self-reflection as second guessing yourself. Self-reflection is a form of evaluation while second guessing is a form of self-doubt.

Here are the questions I have asked myself when I did self-reflection:

What do I really want?

What does that look like?

Who do I need to attract in my life?

Who will I become?

Where do I need to go?

What will it cost me?

What will it mean if I do X?

Why am I nervous to do this?

Why can’t I do that?

How long will it take me to do X?

Haven spoken to many women around the world, here’s what I have learned:

Most women already know what they want to do in live, they just need a little push and a support system.

Some women don’t want children, they are okay with that, and lead happy lives.

Some women don’t want to get married, they are okay with that, and lead happy lives.

Discovering and living your truth takes a lot of confidence, confidence in yourself and in your abilities to stand your ground to live a life that works for you.

All of the women just want to be themselves. They want people to see them for who they truly are and to respect that.

Your thoughts and feelings are not wrong. Now is the time to honor that vibe that’s been nudging you all this time.

The nudge is like a settle whisper at first. You may feel like going to that event, reading that book, eating better, changing careers, starting your business, going back to school, or leaving that dead end relationship.

Eventually, that nudge will become louder as your truth works its way to push through the barriers. You’ll start seeing signs from the universe, overhear people talking about the things you want to do, feeling frustrated, believing that there has to be more than this, arriving at a point of bursting if you don’t begin to truly live your truth.

If that nudge is at a whisper, here are a few things you can do to get that conversation started with yourself:

Journaling. Journal often whatever comes to mind.

Coffee conversations. Grab a buddy you trust and just talk. You’ll be surprise how many problems are solved when you talk out loud.

Be your own advocate. My mom used to tell me that as a kid. In other words, do your own research first.

Evaluate the people in your life. It’s crucial that you spend most of your time with people who want you to succeed no matter what.

Learn the background stories of wildly successful people. Every wildly successful person has a history of trials and tribulations. Discover what ignited them and used that for inspiration.

Incorporate self-care. Self-care should be a non-negotiable but so many people treat it as a luxury. Self-care will prevent becoming burnt out.

Exercise and drink water. Get that heart pumping and rejuvenate your insides. It’s all about working on the mind, body, and spirit.

If that nudge is on blast, bravo. Enjoy the journey, learn where you can, and don’t be hard on yourself.
