In my own life experience that has become my work, I have identified these practices as the main culprits that derail us from creating the lives we desire and deserve.
As Dr. Wayne Dyer said, “We are all born geniuses. Then life de-genius us!”
What has been a revelation to me that inspired me to do the work I do, is that if this is you, that you are not alone. Not by a long shot. Most people around you are suffering these same ailments.
These practices are nothing to be ashamed of, just to get rid of.
Fortunately, when we move from ignorance to understanding, we immediately have the power to change. Then it is up to us.
Self-doubt
Jim Rohn said to not tolerate self-doubt, as it will kill your dreams and clear out your bank account. He said to go after it and get rid of it!
Self-doubt creeps in like a thief in the night, when you least expect it. Sneaky as hell, it can suck the joy out of your inspiration in a moment.
This is because self-doubt is based on unsatisfactory past results that are used as evidence and referent experiences to predict future outcomes. Often these referent experiences are old and outdated and have never been updated to reflect new evidence to the contrary.
Self-doubt operates from an inadequate self-image and it is your self-image that determines the level of success in every aspect of your life. When your self-image is upgradedand you consciously remember your wins and victories when thinking of your goals, then your self-doubt will diminish accordingly.
The crucial practice here is to become conscious and challenge self-doubt the moment it surfaces. It’s important stop it in its tracks before it gains momentum.
How do you do that? By recalling evidence to the contrary that backs up your belief in yourself that you have what it takes to achieve your outcomes.
This is hard work. No doubt about it. But the rewards are sweet and blissful.
- You have to be willing to go after self-doubt and get rid of it as Jim Rohn said.
- You have to be as relentless to dismiss self-doubt as it is relentless in showing up.
- Make sure to notice and count every single shred of evidence of positive results or movement towards your goals.
Self-doubt feasts on your discounting of small victories.
Comparison
One of the biggest sins against ourselves is to compare ourselves to others. Especially people who seem to be smarter and more successful than us.
Comparing makes us feel less-than and seeing ourselves from this less-than perspective we believe we cannot get there.
What we also forget is that when we see successful people, we see the effect of self-belief, success-producing habits, self-discipline, clarity, persistence and consistency.
If we realize that the success we see is a result of the above, then we also realize that we can do that as well.
Then it would be in your best interest to explore what makes them successful and compare that to your habits to learn from.
So, instead of letting someone else’s success overwhelm and deflate you, let it inspire you knowing that every step forward is a step towards your own success.
Success is taking consistent action in the direction of your goals. Every intentional baby step is moving the needle and the feeling of satisfaction and counting of each successful baby step, creates the energy for more.
Excuses
It’s so easy to find excuses to derail you from your next breakthrough. Excuses are a product of fear and like fear, they are false evidence appearing real. They come up when you step out of your comfort zone where things are familiar.
The energy of excuses is riddled with a moment of relief, then guilt sets in, then judging yourself and beating yourself up for not manning up to go after what you want.
A very important practice to undertake is to use your Will to take charge of your subconscious mind and choose the thoughts and feelings that empower you.
When you know that the main aim of your subconscious mind is to keep things safe and familiar, even though it means misery, then also know that you can change that. In fact, only you can change that.
The only way to change that is to become conscious of your thoughts, feelings, words and actions and deliberately choose to change it to what you have decided will represent the who you want to be.
Because it is only in stepping into and claiming to become the person you want to be, that you will achieve the highest visions of your life and business.
Chaos
The chaotic state of mind is a result of not having clarity about what you want in your business and life.
When you do not have a crystal clear image of what you desire, then the images that you do hold in your mind are from the past, producing more of the same results.
The thing is that you have a built-in success mechanism that needs a target. If you don’t give it an image of what you want, then it will use the images you think of anyway to create your life.
We have about 65000 thoughts everyday of which 95% are subconscious. In other words we are not even aware of them. These thoughts are the paradigms of the past.
Unless you take charge of your mind and consciously choose thoughts that empower you and steer you towards your vision and goals, you will continue to create a life of chaos. Where it feels that life is happening to you and that you have no control over it.
If you haven’t done so yet, sit down and write a vision of what you want to create in your life. Then create an image of that. Step into it and live it, feel it. Think of who you need to become to live that vision. Practice thinking these thoughts and experience being this you as often as you remember.
Before long, you will see things change in your life.
Habits
In the end it all comes down to habits. Habits of thinking, feeling, speaking and acting that creates an energy vibration that attracts into your life the experiences that match your vibration.
It’s your choice to decide to continuously strive to raise your energy vibration so that you can feel good and attract experiences that make you feel good.
You do that by deliberately creating the environment in your mind of joy, abundance, love, gratitude, etc.
- Choose the thoughts that empower you.
- Energize the memories of your victories.
- Energize the experiences in your imagination as if it is already happening now.
- Have a clear vision and image of what you want to create in your life.
- Relentlessly get rid of self-doubt.
- Choose to excuse your excuses.
