Call to continue to Learn and Grow as Leaders
The Critical Time of Learning and Training
As a first-generation American, education has always been more than just a part of my background—it’s been the foundation of our family’s values. In our home, the importance of reading, learning, and staying informed was instilled from the earliest age. I wasn’t shielded from difficult truths; I knew about hatred and genocide before I started kindergarten, and I understood the concepts of hate and respect just as early. This deep, early engagement with serious topics taught me that education is the key to overcoming ignorance and misunderstanding.
This understanding guided me towards a career in education initially, and later, training—essentially education for adults. In these roles, I’ve learned that at the core of exceptional leadership lies a commitment to ongoing education and the encouragement of debate. It is here, in the fertile ground of open dialogue and continuous learning, that ideas can truly grow, thrive, and bring about change.
Yet, despite the clear benefits, today’s training programs face scrutiny over their quality, existence, and necessity. This skepticism is deeply concerning because it threatens the very foundation of our progress and understanding. At a time when the world’s complexities are ever-increasing, the need for rigorous and accessible education is more pressing than ever.
True leadership thrives on the pillars of learning and debate. It nurtures an environment where new ideas are welcomed and explored, and where diverse perspectives are not only heard but valued. This is how we push the boundaries of what is known, how we innovate, and how we begin to truly understand each other.
However, the path forward is not just in recognizing the value of education but in actively championing it. We must resist the tide that questions the necessity of training and instead, double down on our commitment to this essential endeavor.
Here is where you come in: Engage with your local schools, support educational nonprofits, or attend community council meetings to advocate for robust educational policies. Share your knowledge, mentor others, and push for policies that prioritize continuous learning and accessible training.
Every discussion you initiate, every piece of knowledge you share, and every step you take to support education makes a broader impact. Let’s lead the charge to transform our approach to learning and training. Embrace the critical need for focused truth and education—our future depends on it.
