For the past few weeks, I have been on a whirlwind tour of the eastern coast, visiting various vacation properties with my young daughter and trying to squeeze in some fun while on a working vacation. We had a wonderful time playing on the beach in Sandestin, Florida, but the customer service at the property where we were staying made all the difference in the world for this busy working mom on vacation.

We were staying at the Residence Inn Sandestin at Grand Boulevard in Sandestin, a beautiful property with many amenities that make being a working mom so much easier–free internet, beautiful, comfortable rooms, a full kitchen in the room and close proximity to shopping and entertainment. But the customer service was what made our trip there so special.

When we arrived at the property and opened the doors to our SUV, the sky opened and the rain began to pour down in sheets. I was drenched, and so was my daughter. It had been an extremely long day, and we were so tired…and the rain was really the last straw. I was just gearing up to run inside with my wet luggage and soggy daughter, when an army of hotel staff came to our rescue. The front desk staff had seen our plight through the window and they sprang into action, running out into the rain to help us. Before we knew it, they were at our side with towels in hand, helping me with my luggage and making sure my little one was safe and dry. When we got inside, my day had significantly improved, and while it was still wet and dreary outside, the sun was shining on my little corner of the world.

Dashing out into the rain may have been a small gesture on their part, but that instinct to give the best customer service a all times by that staff made a world of difference to me, and because of their willingness to help us when the sky was pouring down, I will want to return to that property every time I visit that beautiful corner of the Sunshine State.
