During my time training to be a Health Coach with The Institute For Integrative Nutrition, I was surprised to see that such a diverse range of people had also chosen to go down the same path, isn’t it just thirty-something year old women that do the health and wellness thing?

Health and wellness is an industry that’s perceived as being driven mainly by women but due to a huge increase in demand for Health Coaches and wellness professionals around the world, both men and women from 16 to 70 plus are now keen to discover their role in creating a healthier happier world.

Research over the past couple of years shows that 80% of 50’s plus in the western world are going to change careers and that the next trillion dollar industry globally is the Health & Wellness market space dominated mostly by fitness and mind, body exercise ($390 billion) and healthy eating, nutrition and weight loss sales ($277 billion).

A landmark study released in September 2014 by The Global Wellness Institute reveals that the global wellness market is worth around $3.4 trillion, making it nearly three times larger than the $1 trillion worldwide pharmaceutical industry.

Wellness is multi-dimensional, holistic and changes over time but is most importantly, individual which is a key concept taught at The Institute For Integrative Nutrition, the largest health coaching school in the world.

Here’s how you can discover your role in creating a healthier happier world — even if you don’t know where to start.

1: Thinking about becoming a Health Coach? Try a sample class with IIN, there’s no commitment, it’s fun and you’ll start to get some clarity about which path is best for you to take — what have you got to loose!

2: What’s your thing? As a Health Coach you can bring your true self to the table, it’s not all about green smoothies and yoga. Having a diverse set of interests is great as you can weave it into your work as a wellness professional.

3: Focus on helping just a few people. There’s so much pressure, often self imposed, to change the world that it sometimes makes the task at hand feel impossible but if you gently shift your thinking from I-need-to-change-the-world to, who can I help today, you’ll become part of the ripple effect that is changing the world.

4: Speak to people who’ve gone before you. Check out this Facebook group to see how IIN Health Coaching graduates have created their own unique ways of sharing their knowledge.

5: Learn how to turn your passion into a career you love by looking into how Health Coaching stacks up against other health and wellness jobs — only you can decide which path is right for you but if career flexibility and the ability to create your own income appeals to you then you’ll definitely want to re-read the above points and start putting them into action today.
