We all face pressures in our daily life. It’s easy to become overwhelmed to the point of exhaustion. There are so many things to do whether it’s work or life in general.

But what are the things that really matter to you?

When you wake up in the morning and look at that person in the mirror are you happy with what you see?

I’m not talking about what others see but you. You have to live in your own skin. You have to be happy with the decisions and choices you make.

Don’t a life with regrets

My father passed away almost three years ago and for the last 10 years of his life every time I saw him he told me not to wait to do the things I wanted to do. He said by the time you can “afford” to do them it’s too late.

His words echoed in my mind over all these years.

For example when I have an opportunity to do something I’d like to do but I’m tired or it seems like a hassle I think about his words.

Sure there are things you can’t-do. Maybe you can’t go to Italy but you could learn to speak Italian. How fun would that be?

What’s exciting is that you can visit Italy virtually. The other day my husband found aerial footage of Italy and it was stunning, to say the least. It made me think I might not be able to go to Italy but I can still take in the breathtaking views.

Don’t live a life with regrets

When people tell you that you can’t-do something push yourself harder to make it happen.

Almost 30 years ago when I started my first business all my friends kept telling me I couldn’t do it. How could a woman with no college education start her own business?

My husband was my number one cheerleader and still is.

Against all odds, I ignored those neigh sayers and started my business. Six months later who came knocking down my door? All those friends who said it couldn’t be done. They wanted me to help them start a business.

If I hadn’t forged ahead into unknown territory I wouldn’t be the person I am today.

I would never have helped other women start and grow their business.

My list of accomplishments wouldn’t include being an author, writer, award-winning photographer and videographer and a business success coach. I could go on and on.

It’s satisfying to have my daughter tell me she wouldn’t be the person she is today if I didn’t go after the things I wanted. She said I taught her how to have a great work ethic and that I was a wonderful role model. Just saying that makes tears of joys well up in my eyes. Imagine my daughter telling me that I am an inspiration to her. That’s why she is who she is today. It’s why she started her own business and is now embarking on her second one teaching people to speak English. My daughter is living life on her own terms.

No regrets

You can do anything and be anything you want.

No regrets

Here’s an inspiring video with women giving their advice on what they would do differently if they were young again. One comment that struck me was don’t make a to-do list. Make a don’t do list.

We all face pressure in life but we can’t allow that to overshadow the things we value and hold dear to us.

The next time you want to do something ask yourself this, “ If I don’t go after this or do this five years from now will I regret it?”

You are more powerful than you think. Don’t live a life with regrets.
