Thank you so much for joining us, David! Our readers would love to get to know you a bit better. Can you tell us a bit about your backstory?

Thank you! I’m excited to share my journey. It’s been a life of incredible highs and humbling lows. I grew up in a modest home, raised by a single mother who worked tirelessly to provide for six kids. Despite her struggles, she instilled in us the importance of education and hard work. My siblings excelled academically, but my focus was different—I wanted to be rich. I believed that wealth would solve all of our problems and bring happiness.

At 31, I achieved what I thought was the dream: I was worth over $100 million, married to my dream girl, and living in my dream home. But I wasn’t happy. Beneath the surface, I felt empty and disconnected. Poor decisions, the wrong influences, and a lack of purpose led to my downfall. It wasn’t until I hit rock bottom—losing my money, relationships, and self-respect—that I began to rebuild my life. Through gratitude, accountability, and a new perspective on purpose, I turned my life around. That transformation has not only defined who I am today but has become the foundation of my mission to empower others.

What was the pivotal moment that made you realize you needed to change?

It was a single night that changed everything. I had been living recklessly, and one night I came home at 5:30 AM after lying to my wife about where I had been. She was waiting for me and said calmly but firmly, “I’m leaving you unless you change.” That was a gut punch. I was furious at first—blaming her, blaming others—but then I saw a jacket in my closet that my dad had given me years earlier. He had said, “You can’t take anything with you when you go.” In that moment, it hit me. I didn’t hate the people around me—I hated the person I had become. That realization was the beginning of my journey to rebuild, not just financially but emotionally and spiritually.

Gratitude seems to play a big role in your philosophy. How did it shape your transformation?

Gratitude became my lifeline. It’s the simplest yet most powerful tool we have to shift our perspective. When I began practicing gratitude daily, it helped me see opportunities instead of obstacles. It allowed me to find lessons even in my failures. Gratitude isn’t just a feel-good practice—it rewires your brain, building resilience and positivity. Every morning and evening, I write down three things I’m grateful for. It’s a practice that keeps me grounded, no matter what challenges I face. Gratitude showed me that abundance already existed in my life—I just needed to acknowledge it.

When you decided to rebuild your life, where did you begin?

I started with the people and ideas I surrounded myself with. I realized that the company you keep directly impacts your mindset and growth. I sought mentors like Wayne Dyer and Bob Proctor, who helped me align my actions with my purpose. At the same time, I distanced myself from people who weren’t aligned with the life I wanted to create.

Another important step was focusing on my health. I even hired a sleep coach, which might sound minor, but optimizing a third of my life—sleep—transformed my productivity and mindset. By creating a foundation of healthy habits and surrounding myself with the right influences, I was able to rebuild my life with clarity and intention.

Transformation can take time, and many people get discouraged along the way. What advice would you give to someone who feels stuck?

Focus on the process, not the outcome. We live in a society that craves instant results, but real transformation takes time and consistency. The key is to celebrate small wins and trust the journey. Detach yourself from the need for immediate results and instead commit to daily actions that align with your goals.

For me, it was about breaking my big-picture goals into manageable steps. Whether it’s practicing gratitude, journaling, or setting boundaries, those small, intentional actions compound into massive change over time. Stay patient and focus on what you can control today.

Service seems to be at the heart of your work. Why is helping others so important to you?

Helping others is where I find true fulfillment. Early in my career, I thought success was about accumulating wealth and accolades. But I’ve learned that the real joy comes from empowering others. When you focus on lifting others, you create a ripple effect that not only benefits them but also elevates you.

My mission to empower over a billion people to be happy isn’t about fame or recognition—it’s about creating a legacy of impact. Service is the key to living a life of purpose and meaning.

Many people struggle with asking for help. What would you say to someone who feels hesitant to reach out?

Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. It shows that you have faith in abundance and trust in the goodness of others. I always say, “The worst thing someone can say is no.” Even if they say no, you’ve gained clarity and saved time.

Think of it this way: when someone asks you for help, doesn’t it feel good to assist them? The same is true when you ask for help—it’s an opportunity for others to contribute. Don’t let fear hold you back from accessing the support and resources you need to grow.

How do you define success now, after everything you’ve experienced?

Success, for me, is simple: making money, helping people, and having fun. If I can wake up every day and do those three things, I’ve succeeded. It’s no longer about what I can accumulate but about how I can contribute to the world. True wealth comes from living with purpose, building meaningful relationships, and creating a positive impact.

Before we wrap up, do you have any final words of wisdom for our readers?

Life is about lessons. Every experience—whether it feels good or bad in the moment—is an opportunity to grow. Embrace challenges as stepping stones to your greatest potential. Consistency is the secret to success. Small, intentional actions practiced daily will take you further than grand gestures made sporadically.

Start with gratitude. Focus on service. Live with purpose. If you do those things, you’ll unlock the abundance that’s already within you.
