I understand that life can be hectic. Stay at home mum, work from home mum, working full time, working part time, building a business, looking after a family, seeing to your husband and kid’s needs, trying to make time to exercise, catching up with friends and family, housework, kid’s parties, social events….and somewhere looking after yourself?!?! Just writing that is tiring.

Do you feel like you need a break from life? Are you ready to make changes so that you don’t need a break from life and simply feel good every single day to truly embrace your life?

Cramming everything into your life is not the answer. Relying on coffee and biscuits is not going to help your body feel fueled for life. Saying no to your needs and yes to everyone else is definitely not going to help you get your energy reserves stocked up, and help maintain them.

Exhausted? 5 Natural Ways to Boost Your Energy

1 – A good solid breakfast

Eating a nutritious meal at the start of the day will help you to get an amazing boost of energy for the tasks ahead of you. Focus on adding wholesome food – carbohydrates, fats and protein. By adding all of the three macronutrients to your meal it will help the body to feel energised, satisfied and satiated due to the amazing mix of nutrients. An example breakfast: oats mixed with water, chia seeds, flaxseeds and a plant-based protein powder, topped with fresh fruit, peanut butter and coconut yoghurt.

2 – Lemon water in the morning

Lemon water will help to hydrate your body after many hours of no water during sleep. It will help to boost energy, promote good digestion, and stop sugar cravings later in the day by keeping your body hydrated.

3 – Herbal tea

Skip relying on many cups of coffee and traditional tea to get you through the day. There s nothing wrong with a cup or two every now and then but relying on this strong dose of caffeine can dehydrate and fatigue the body. Reduce or avoid the coffee pick-me-ups by focusing on more herbal teas such as chamomile, licorice, rooibos, peppermint, ginger, cinnamon and green tea. Without the excess stimulation, these herbal teas will help to keep your body hydrated which in turn helps keep energy levels high.

4 – Move your body

You don’t need to “go hard” to exercise. If the thought of an intense weights session or fast cardio workout is enough to make you run away from a regular exercise routine, then please don’t worry, there are many ways to move your body whilst feeling energised. Regular exercise can actually boost your energy levels, it requires paying attention to your body and seeing what it needs. For optimal wellbeing, if your body is very tired take it for a gentle walk for fresh air in nature. If you have that extra motivation lift weights for 20/30/40 minutes. Go dancing, swimming, cycling or do yoga. There are many ways to exercise and feel energised without running for hours or lifting the heaviest weights!

5 – Rest and sleep

Most of all, rest! Taking time every day to do nothing, relax and go to bed early will do wonders for overall health and energy levels. This is the easiest method to boost energy levels. Take an afternoon nap when possible, curl up on the sofa and listen to soothing music or meditate for 10 minutes. Allow yourself to go slow without the constant need to do every single second.

There are many reasons as to why you could be feeling exhausted due to hormones, nutrition, stress, health issues and general lifestyle. Try to go back to basics and pay attention to your body to see what it needs in order to thrive!
