If your 2024 has begun anything like mine, it’s probably been a whirlwind. At the end of 2023, I finished the year strong by recapping the highs and lows and establishing specific goals for myself in terms of what I accomplish this year. I even created a vision board which hangs proudly in my office to remind me. And, I’m happy to report that, so far, I have managed to stay on track.

All of my objectives for 2024 boiled down to me pouring into myself. I promised to improve my diet, my health, and to learn some new skills. I have been sticking wholeheartedly with that self-love too. My diet has significantly changed for the better, and I have implemented some health-related self-care as well. Meal prep and planning have become new favorite pastimes for me. Who knew?

Additionally, I enrolled in a tech course which I love. I’ve met a lot of great people and have genuinely enjoyed it. With the fresh knowledge that I’ve gained, I hope to to launch a new business project.

Overall, I’ve been really leaning into self-love and forward momentum which I reflected on yesterday – Valentine’s Day. As I see it, the most important person to love is always yourself. Once you do, everything else seems to follow: relationships, opportunities, and success. I have found this time and time again.

Self-love and self-care are challenging for may us, however, when we are balancing so many things and tend to put ourselves last. The more we put ourselves first, though, the more that we have to give others. It’s an interesting dynamic.

Some of the things that you can do to love yourself more include:

  • Ensuring that you are feeding your mind and soul.
  • Giving yourself enough sleep and physical care.
  • Placing an emphasis on spending enjoyable time with others.
  • Staying true to what you really want out of life.
  • Helping others when you can.
  • Giving back and saying thank you.
  • Standing up for yourself.
  • Recognizing your own efforts and accomplishments.
  • Taking time to breathe.

It becomes easier when you focus on it. So, why not go ahead and love yourself this February and beyond? If you do, you will soon see your life flourish and love you back.
