The tears easily flood your eyes when you take down the pictures of your loved one, they were your best friend. Your chest aches for the longing of that person being gone. You never thought that you wouldn’t spend another birthday or holiday together, you thought there were endless amounts of days together to look forward to until it was all taken away. It is still hard to understand their betrayal, their change of heart, and the trust being shattered into a thousands of little pieces. The quiet tears that fall during your drives alone seem like they will never stop because you just want one person in the whole world, but I have a secret. They do.
No matter how hard it is, being single is a beautiful thing. You learn your self-worth, your value, and through that you slowly wake up to know why your relationship didn’t work. You deserve the best. If the relationship didn’t work, then neither person was the best for one another. The best part of being single is the way time falls. I will not be clichè and say time heals your wounds, but for one second close your eyes. Close your eyes, and think about where you were a year ago, what you were doing, who was in your life. Who or what was causing you pain during that time? For me, it was someone entirely different than the person causing me pain now.
Open your eyes. Look at yourself in the mirror. You are still here, beautiful and stronger than ever. You surivived the pain before, and you can survive it again. Finding love again should excite you. The person you are missing didn’t always give you those special moments, because it ended. Be excited for the person that will give you happiness all the time rather than someone who takes it away. Look forward to the first time holding hands and having butterflies. Look forward to those first and endless laughs new relationships bring. Look forward to the silly moments you get to be completely yourself and someone looks at you the way everyone loves to be looked at. Someone will be that for you, someone new will come along. It’s a long journey but your last relationship ended for a reason. The reason is to find yourself and learn how to love better and more. That kind of love is unbreakable.
