My first book, a nonfiction book about my journey to be a full-time freelance writer, how to find clients, how to make money, marketing, sales, and more was published on Amazon in digital and print format. The formal “launch” is 8/17, but it is officially published.

I woke up to the news that it went live.

Though of course, I was excited, my first thought was not one of “oh my god!” but was one of peace.

Being a writer and creating my writing business is one of the few things in life that I had no anxiety about. I got a bit nervous sometimes, sure. Even freaked out about specific steps, or stressed about how many hours I was working.

But anxiety? Nope. I know for a fact that I am a good writer. I know that I can do this, and build a successful business. Of course, it is nerve-wracking sometimes, but this is what I was always meant to do. I simply took a roundabout way to get here. The scenic route.

I have finally realized how useful all my sales experience is.

People keep telling me “Most writers are more introverted and hate selling themselves, but not you…”

That’s why I get new clients quickly. Why I am happy to tell people about my work. I’m a salesperson, an extrovert who also writes. Not a writer who forces themselves to market occasionally.

Being a published book author…this was meant. From my first songs, poems, stories, and my overactive imagination. I am doing exactly what I should.

Instead of looking to retirement, I hope to be 94 years old and talking to my robot computer, still writing books, creating something from nothing.

I am living my purpose, and it only took 30 years to get here!

Your purpose lies at the crossroad of difficult and necessary.

What is it that you love? What do you do at home once your workday is over? What creative outlet finds you no matter where you go? This is your purpose. Whether that is philanthropy, music, writing, art, math, or synchronized swimming.
