Five Simple Yet Effective Ways To Deal With Failure

When was the last time you faced failure? Ask this question to those around you, and you’d come to know that failure is ubiquitous. Whether it is the inability to meet our relationship goals, our laziness which doesn’t allow us to meet our fitness standards or a poor work environment which stops us from achieving work-related goals, all of us, at some point in our lives, are bound to fail.

Consequently, when failure is guaranteed, won’t it be reasonable that we come up with ways using which we can deal with it without having a breakdown. With this viewpoint, I’ve come up with these simple yet effective ways to deal with failure:

#1: Accept what happened

Acceptance is the first step towards handling failures. Don’t try to ignore it or hide it. Instead of languishing in self-pity and hopelessness, accept the situation. The faster you accept it, the quicker you’d be able to get over it. That’s the only way to be able to move you on and do something about it.

#2: Take Responsibility

Take some responsibility when you fail. Neither condemn yourself nor blame others for your misfortune. Provided you do that, you won’t get in a bitter mode. That, in turn, will allow you to draw a straight line between your failure and its cause.

#3: Analyze your situation

You cannot go back in time and undo what happened, but you can prevent it from happening again.  The way to do it is by analyzing the sequence of the events that led to the failure. By doing this, you gain more insight into what went wrong. This will also save you from making the same error again.

#4: Face your fear of Failure

Harboring a fear of failure can mean disaster when it actually strikes. Fronting your fear of failure can drastically shift your state of mind. So, after placing your phone on the phone kiosk, ask yourself what it is that scares you the most. Then make a mental note to do the same thing. Push yourself out of your comfort zone.

#5: Research famous Failures

Whether it’s by a single step or by thousand miles, failures always lead us into self-pity. We tend to adopt a victim mindset thinking that nobody has ever gone through what we’re going through right now. To defeat this self-defeating chain of thoughts, pick up your smartphone from the charging station for phones, and read about famous people who met failures in their life.

Doing this will assure you that just like you, even the brightest minds cannot be successful all the time. It will give you confidence that like them, you too could devise ways to get out of the predicament that you might be facing at the time.
