Create an Engaging Headline

When creating content it must be remembered that the headline will sell the main body of your content. According to CopyBlogger 80% of people will actually read your heading, compared to only 20% of people who actually read the main body of text. Therefore if the headline fails to engage, the reader will simply move on. In an era where there is massive competition for attention, the headline has to market your message powerfully. Therefore by making it clear how somebody can experience more positive emotions, increased income,  saved time and minimized risk will naturally whet the appetite of your reader.

Include Customer Pain Point

By breaking content down into actionable steps will lead to more engagement with your target group. The key is not to write in quantity for the sake of it, but to produce quality precise actionable insights. This will increase the possibility of the audience engaging and enjoying  the content. The use of examples in your content will allow the audience to visualise the points being made.

Tell Stories

Stories are more likely to make an impact on the reader and engage them. The age old expression of ‘figures tell and stories sell’ ring true when analysing how writers like JK Rowling have engaged millions worldwide using text. Whilst teaching Economics to high school students, I found that telling the story of sudden increases in the price of chocolate bars was infinitely more powerful than giving a textbook definition of inflation. The power of story is that it helps to evoke emotions that give words more power.

Include References

When including references from other blogs and websites content is given much more authority and is trusted more by readers. This becomes even more important when using statistics in your writing to earn trust with your readers. Referencing shows how much effort the creator of the content  has taken to research the topic in great depth.
