Just as sure as the past is over, the future is coming. And though there will be those who fight what it comes to bring, complain about the changes it will bring to the world, and wish it weren’t so, their words do not matter, the future IS coming. To think we can stop the future from coming, is to think we could capture the ocean in a thimble. Impossible. At least, in the current world we know.
Everything we know will be disrupted, 90% of the businesses that now exist and function well, will no longer be here in 10-20 years. Industries will vanish, jobs will disappear, and the way everything is done will entirely change. If we allow ourselves to be caught by surprise and do not prepare ourselves for the future, it will roll right over us and cause us pain and suffering. But, we have a chance now to recalibrate and to build for the future that we can at least see coming.
For the first time ever in history, the human species will soon not be the smartest presence on earth. This is already happening. But in the course of the next 25 years, it will continue to grow exponentially.
Take for example, the smartphone we hold in our pocket. We can buy for $1,000, but in a very short period of time, this same smartphone will have the capacity to think at an equation of 10 to the 16th power. For most of us, this number is incomprehensible, until we are told 10 to the 16th power equals the capacity of the human mind. The knowledge we will have at our fingertips is unprecedented. And imagine this, in 25 years, that same smart phone will have the capacity of not only one human mind, but 8 billion human minds, and that knowledge will be accessible to all.
And yet, our schools are not teaching and preparing our children for this future. They are teaching in much the same way they taught before we had computers. They are teaching facts that a student can learn online quicker, and with more enjoyment than the way they are learning in school. We do not need to memorise information but rather how to access and integrate information whenever we need it. We need to learn about ourselves and what is possible when we connect our resources together.
3D printers will grow to such lengths that soon, we will be able to speak what we want to our phones and without knowing one word of code, our phones will communicate complicated code to our 3D printer and they will make the product we want right before our eyes for a fraction of the cost. Already artificial limbs that used to cost over a million dollars are being manufactured for $150 dollars and 650 square foot homes are being made in one day for $4,000. Cars will be printed, food will be manufactured with 3D printers, products that are now made in factories and distributed to stores will be made in our homes for a fraction/fraction of the cost. This means manufacturers, sales people, retail outlets, products will all no longer be needed as people discover the convenience and simplicity and cost efficiency of doing it all, on their phones and 3D printers.
And all of this is just what we see now. We have no idea what we do not see. What is coming is beyond our imagination.
Beyond the revolution of artificial intelligence, there is another change coming; one in which we have no idea of its impact. Alien Intelligence. We know, without doubt, that life exists beyond our planet. The time is coming closer where we will interact and learn to co-exist with beings from other planet, or galaxies. The human species, once thought to be the most intelligent of all creation will soon co-inhabit the world with both artificial intelligence and alien intelligence that will continue to grow exponentially at speeds presently imperceivable to the human mind.
Now more than ever, it is time for us to understand the connected intelligence of The Mosaic. Everything is connected. Science is now saying what metaphysics has said for a long time, that we are not matter, separate from each other, but that everything is made of energy. What will that understanding bring to us.
To me, the biggest challenge facing us is not poverty, or hunger or racism or any of the things we once thought, but rather how we prepare ourselves to show up in this new world. As Benjamin Franklin said many years ago, “The best way to predict the future, is to create it.”
I invite those of you who feel this, to not wait for the world to be disrupted, but to grow together and prosper together. In every time of change, there are the innovators that prosper and the hesitaters that go out of businesses. Now is the time to come together as a Mosaic of people to disrupt our business, our industries, our government and our way of life. Why wait for 2 teenagers in a garage to disrupt the world when we can get out in front of this changing time and create our new reality.
