“I have started writing a book, but I haven’t written for a while because I haven’t been feeling inspired.”

You want to write a book and you know what sort of impact having a bestseller would have to you and your business. You get inspired and begin to write, you do a few pages, put it away and carry on with your life.

A few weeks down the line as you’re walking Fido down the river, an idea pops into your head and suddenly you are full of inspiration again. You rush home to dig out your book (by then you’ve forgotten what you’ve already written and need to read the whole thing again).

You tell yourself that you are going to be consistent this time and get this book done. You want to publish that book to grow your business, to book speaking gigs, to get media and to change lives. You know it has the potential to make amazing things happen… But you’re not feeling inspired right now. You hope that inspiration hits again soon!

Before you know it, 3 years has passed and your book is still only half written.

Do you resonate with this?

I know many will because I talk to them every day, and I know how it feels because I was exactly the same!

Here’s the thing about inspiration- to get results, you don’t wait for it to come and grab you, you’ve got to spark it up, and the way to do that is by taking action.

Action will take away fear, increase confidence and will fire up your creativity.

Before you even begin to write, map out your book!

So many aspiring authors will sit down and write with no idea why they are writing, who their readers are and what they want to do with it afterwards. Getting clear on this will not only go a long way towards making sure your book actually hits the outcome you want, but will really help you to get inspired.

Here’s how to GET INSPIRED!

Before you start writing, do something to get you in the right frame of mind- choose your environment wisely, exercise, listen to a motivating podcast, put on some banging tunes, go for a walk, meditate or dance naked in the woods. Whatever works for you… Just commit to raising your vibe and opening up your creativity!

Then… And this seems really simple (but the most effective things often are), you just write!

You sit down and you write, even if you’re not really feeling it. What you’ll find it that as you warm up, the creative juices will start flowing again and even if they don’t, it’s no big deal- take a few minutes out, go back to the first step and then get back to it asking yourself the following question.

What would I write if I was in flow?

If you are still blocked, get to the bottom of WHY you are not allowing yourself to be in flow. Be honest with yourself about what’s really going on and what you are afraid of… Then commit to letting go of whatever comes up.

Don’t wait around for inspiration to hit you, you’ve got to get out there and fire it up!
