One action that helped me to feel seen and appreciated was during my time in a school helping children learn well. I was a volunteer mentor on a leadership development programme and seeing them look up to me as someone trustworthy is a very good sign that I could be a teacher someday.
Working with children is a wonderful experience because I get to meet them across different age groups which can affect their behaviour towards me, for example, children aged between five and eleven years old in a primary school.
It is important for me to adapt my communication towards these kids as some would not accept help or confide in me and I would respect that. I find children and young people really interesting and doing this particular job will allow me to inspire them to be great leaders of the future.
