When asylum-seeking parents and children were separated and put in detention centers; creative, compassionate action was needed & Grandmother Healing Dolls was born. Their first journey to help the children included 3042 miles, two countries, six states, and 54 counties. (The picture is of them in my car.)
This series of posts serves as a first-person accounting of the trip to three detention centers, three courthouses, a jail, and several other stops. Networking with grassroots not-for-profits was the strategy used for doing the most good. The grandmothers exist to help heal trauma.

What does asylum mean?
When, how, and under what circumstances did your family come to this country?
Please share how you feel about your children; or if you don’t have children describe how you feel about someone close to you.
