I’m so happy and privileged to identify as female today alongside so many powerful women today! Women’s day is a mega-confidence boost that all women deserve today and EVERY day. <3

While women should be celebrated everyday, it is crucial we take a day to set aside to acknowledge gender-inequality and female accomplishments that can sometimes be overshadowed on other days.

As accomplished and successful women, we are often times subjected to sexism in the patriarchy, it can be quite bothersome to have to encounter ignorant comments, sexual harassment, discrimination against gender, gender stereotypes, homophobia (for my trangender and LGBTQ+ Queens), sexism in unhealthy relationships, unrealistic/ outdated expectations… BUT days like today serve as a reminder to keep going. To persist.

Remember, when others are intimidated by you and your accomplishments, it is a reflection of their sense of inadequacy that they are choosing to project onto you. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE IT. You are always above those who try to drag you down. They are intimidated by you for a reason… You’re successful! You’re intelligent! They look up to you. A lion often intimidates sheep, stay focused on your goals today and every day.

So Queen, here are the 5 BEST WAYS TO CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY!

1) MESSAGE ALL OF THE WOMEN IN YOUR LIFE

Share the excitement! Today is our day, and what better way to feel connected and to build a sense of community amongst woman than to message all of your women contacts! Don’t forget, women’s day is for ALL women, not just privileged women. So ensure you are reaching out to women of colour and women in the LGBTQ+ community.

Messaging your friends something as simple as “Happy International Women’s Day” helps to build a sense of community. Celebrating with friends can be powerful. So go ahead and reach out to your busy friends, and take the time to celebrate with positive vibes from a positive group of successful Queens.

JUST MAKE SURE NOT TO MISGENDER ANYONE! Women’s day is not an excuse to misgender our non-binary friends or men. Your intentions might be good, but this could make people uncomfortable.

2) POST ABOUT YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Take some time to be CONFIDENT! Today is about you and your achievements, remind yourself and your friends how much of a badass woman you are! You can also use today to voice your opinions and beliefs about feminism! 🙂 Even if you aren’t the type of person who typically voices their opinions, today is the perfect opportunity to do so 🙂 BE BRAVE AND BE YOU! Today is about you. Post a selfie you feel confident in, update your LinkedIn, remind your friends of your accomplishments. Be proud of yourself today, you deserve the recognition!

3) CALL YOUR MOM, GRANDMA, AUNTS AND COUSINS

Today is the perfect opportunity to re-connect with the busy women in your life. Call and catch up, wishing someone a happy women’s day is a great conversation starter. 🙂

4) READ BOOKS, ARTICLES, AND BLOG POSTS WRITTEN BY WOMEN FOR WOMEN

Today is the perfect day to learn about feminism and support your fellow females in their endeavors. Reading about powerful women will inspire you to follow in their footsteps. Embrace your womanhood today!

5) TAKE CARE OF YOUR MENTAL HEALTH

International Women’s Day is a reminder to prioritize ourselves. Women work so hard and oftentimes, we are not acknowledged or rewarded to the extent to which we should be, so take today as an opportunity to prioritize your goals.

Make a vision board about your dreams and goals, go to the gym and listen to a playlist by female artists, listen to Podcasts that support medical research for women, work towards your goals today, write a poem or short story or essay expressing your opinions. Do whatever you feel will be the best use of your time as an empowered women.

No matter how you choose to celebrate women’s day, I hope you feel empowered and successful. Carry the confidence and energy you feel today into every day. BE BOLD. BE POWERFUL. BE YOU.
