Being a woman in business can certainly have its challenges. Granted, it is not true in nearly every circumstance, but women can be taken advantage of by men in some situations and can be severely underestimated just based on the fact of being a woman. For Tokyo native Kaho Shibuya, she has dealt with this firsthand on numerous occasions. Because of this, even some women she has worked alongside have faked friendships with her in order to get her around their male colleagues. Rather than take all of this to heart, Kaho has used it as fuel to become more successful than ever and make a name for herself in the entertainment space.
Growing up, Kaho developed an affinity for American pro wrestling. Rather than just casually tune into events, she went out and learned the English language to become more immersed in the American culture. Immediately, it became obvious that she was willing to work as hard as possible to shape her life to her desires and passions, and attack life rather than sit back and let life happen to her.
After graduating college fluent in English, Kaho took a job in journalism and reporting, and would even spend time teaching English at a school that specialized in the language. While she was establishing herself in the professional world, she was still not satisfied with her current situation. As a result, she began a pursuit of a career in the entertainment industry.
After accumulating a large audience and fan base, Kaho began leveraging her brand to thrive on YouTube and as a column writer. She credits her transition from a desk job to freelance to her mindset she has always had on entrepreneurship. She believes that it has always come naturally to her, and she has always had a deep desire to put herself in a new environment and try new things.
She is also a believer that life is just a sum of all of the best and most interesting experiences you have, and she has put those words into action by pursuing her passions.
One piece of advice she could give herself would be to never let herself adjust so much to people around her. It took her some time that not everyone will be your fan or have your best interests in mind, but that reality helped to change her life. By being able to put the naysayers and people who tried taking advantage of her to the side and focus on herself, she has benefitted massively as a professional and entertainment personality. Now, it’s full speed ahead for Kaho as she seeks to take her brand to new heights.
