Leverage on the capabilities of AI, to maximize on the benefits of a great user experience. If you can do a better job than your competition at satisfying your customers, you are doing it right.

How do you do that? By identifying the needs first and then drafting a ‘how to’ plan to meet those needs.

Let me put two pointers out for you

One, a great user experience is only as good as the insights driven from the audience analysis

Two, artificial intelligence enhances that experience by morphing app behavior in line with the end-user expectation.

So if you want addicted users, work on an AI empowered UX, geared on the right insights, and you are good to go.

User experience starts from the moment a user first interacts with your app and encapsulates the whole interaction journey. You can cash in on that by investing in the understanding of your customer needs. Studying the customer patterns, behaviors and interaction will give you keen insights on the required user experience.

Now, you could do that manually, but that’s a lot of areas to worry about. By incorporating an AI system that silently collects data on engagement metrics and analyses user patterns and behaviors, a personalized and optimized user experience won’t be tough to achieve.

How will AI help?

Depending on what you need focused on, from Journey maps, an intelligent feedback mechanism, user guide system (context intelligent chatbot) to AI programmed test users. AI can be manipulated in so many ways to enhance the user experience that there will come a time where not using AI with UX will be considered taboo.(Add some link here to prove this)

But I implore you again, before you opt for any AI technique, be sure what your customers need and how it would add value to their user experience. Let’s look at some examples.

AI influence on UX

Spotify‘s accuracy of data analysis and audience behavior prediction was so on point that, it amounted to an increase of a billion song streams with their ‘Discover Weekly’ feature. They used all their data intelligently to suggest recommendations for the average listener

How did they get there?

By identifying the basic purpose of their users, which was “listen to music”, not to catalogue it or organise it, and tailored ‘Discover weekly’ to address this specific user behavior and the results were paramount high adoption rate of their service.

This is artificial intelligence making user experience more robust and rich!

Robust UX is reliant upon ‘meeting the needs of the customers’ and achieved with ‘an Artificial Intelligence strategy with a bulls-eye aim’.

Who doesn’t have a Facebook profile? Their use of AI in giving more personalized and amazing user experience is nothing short of genius. One of the ways they use AI is to “read” the content of photographs people upload and use it to target advertisement that is relatable to them. This approach not only lands them in reaching the right target audience but they can charge advertisers more because of the accuracy of their results.

In addition, they use the same technique to give software readers the ability to ‘read’ photographic content for visually impaired people.

Now wouldn’t you want to hit two user experience birds with one AI-empowered stone?

These are just two examples from a massive pile of smart user experiences out there. Moving on to how AI can make UX more robust and personal, I previously mentioned Journey maps and Artificially intelligent test users. These two are my personal favorites. Journey maps unlock a whole new world of opportunities. You map a user’s actions in their journey through your product. How they navigate through, what interested them the most, friction and pain points etc. and then use powerful data analytics to optimize a personal customer experience on an individual level. If you have doubts about the importance of customer experiences, read through this “CEO guide to customer experience“.

AI test users, I am going to be honest that does make you think of “Ex Machina” a little, show great promise. The thought of artificial users programmed with different personalities is very intriguing. It replaces a lot of painful and tedious user testing hours and you can generate efficient and effective insights on what kind of user experience would best serve your audience.

Typically, user experience designers would rely on various tools and UX design principals to increase user engagement with their products. They would pour in on techniques like usability testing, field-testing and what not.

AI test users change all that by the use of tons and bucket loads of actionable data. I say tons because the more the data, more accurate results you can achieve. Analyzing this data allows you to mark user behaviors and patterns that would result in robust and optimized user experiences. Any application, be it web or mobile, can use analytics to gather data, so there are no implementation limitations here.

If you want your applications as permanent residents in the user’s devices, you need to deliver a user experience that interacts and evolves with your users. If you don’t, they won’t stand a chance in today’s race of smart apps and might get uninstalled and yield no returns. If the IT giants are doing it, why shouldn’t you?
