I recently had the pleasure of sitting down and chatting with Meiyoko Taylor, who is known as “the Trajectory Changer”. He is a celebrity personal development coach, 2 time best selling author, and a serial entrepreneur. He is the creator of the acclaimed “A-M-A-Z-I-N-G personal development blueprint” which teaches CEOs/professionals, public figures, entrepreneurs, athletes, and industry leaders a comprehensive system to promote peak performance in every area of life.

We talked about his upbringing and this is what he had to say:

In your own words, what’s your story Meiyoko? How did you get to where you are today?

Most people ask me what made me become a coach and the truth is I didn’t choose coaching, coaching chose me. I was always that kid that had a heart to help people or give advice if I knew it could bring joy to someone else’s life. That’s who I have always been. However, like most people, I believed that the way to do things was to go to school, then college, get a job, get married, etc. I just thought that path was the right way to go at the time.

Instead of pursuing my dreams, I pursued what everyone else thought that I should be doing. I did this for many years and the more I took this path, the more I felt like something within me was being suppressed. I could feel this part of me begging to be freed but I just kept going through the motions. I pursued college in a field that was recommended, not a field I wanted to pursue. As a result, I didn’t do well and I ended up dropping out. Leaving college eventually led to working at a job that literally made me sick to my stomach.

I was filled with anxiety, depression, and at that time I was severely overweight. Everything came crashing down. From my personal relationships to my overall mental and emotional health, it seemed like things just kept getting worse. One day I looked at myself in the mirror and burst into tears. So much time passed and I realized I had no idea who I was and even worse, I realized that my life didn’t include anything I was passionate about.

I had a decision to make. Either I could continue to live my current life and spiral even more downhill, or I could make the scariest decision of my life at that time. I decided to stop listening to what everyone else was saying and I began to really think about what mattered to me. It was totally against the grain but something amazing happened. For the first time in a long time, I felt like I was taking my control back.

The day I will never forget is when I typed in ‘how to find yourself” on google. The first thing that came up was personal development. I didn’t know what that was but was excited to find out that there was actually a mindset that you can develop to increase your odds of success. This resulted in reading a total of seventy books over the course of one year along with hundreds of audios, trainings, and workshops. It was almost like I was reborn.

I began to take this new knowledge and apply it to my life but the results were only temporary. I needed a way to focus specifically on my situation. That’s when I began learning about how to officially become a coach. I studied nlp, life coaching, emotional intelligence, and more. Everything about my life began to change and am now achieving levels of success that I only dreamed about.

It really is confirmation that if you live a life of passion and purpose, incredible things will happen. Several certifications and many life experiences later, I have been blessed to help some amazing people in various areas of personal development.

Thank you for sharing your amazing story! Do you have any last words of advice for readers?
