Do you struggle with addictions to sugary fatty processed and overall unhealthy foods? Do your emotions and stresses in life get the better of you and lead you to binge eat on more and more of the very stuff you know you shouldn’t have. Do you fear that once you become addicted to sugars, fizzy drinks and fast food, it may be impossible to stop?

Fear, not all is not lost just because you’ve acquired a liking for unhealthy foods. It doesn’t mean you’re destined to a lifetime of temptation and cravings binge eating and excessive weight gain. Your brain has the solution as always and as being mindful is the key to success.

So imagine learning a new way of thinking and eating in which you get to experience living life to the full and embracing new found tastes and textures in your food rather than just eating for the sake of it and instant gratification without satisfaction. A new way of eating that benefits your emotional and physical well-being.

Do you want to know how you can change and learn to eat more mindfully and help ‘reverse’ addiction to unhealthy foods?

What is the secret to success?

Train your mind to respect your body become more self-aware and mindful of how your food choices and lifestyle habits affect your future self your health and well-being so you can thrive and be the best version of you in life. I know from experience I gained weight because I gave in too many times to temptations to support my emotions and numbed them with unhealthy foods. I gave in because my self-awareness and inability to deal with those emotions led me to over react to situations in my life. I became a mindless emotional eater. I gained five stone became chronically ill and buried my head in the sand until I was given an ultimatum and that was to stay stuck or change the decision was all mine!

So that’s me three years on and embracing the gift of change. I am confident happy and healthy living authentic and have new physical and mental growth and lots of energy to live my life to the full. I went from just surviving to thriving.

Mindful eating not only changed my life it saved my life. I now eat to fuel my health and happiness instead of to comfort or numb my emotions. I use my food as fuel, not therapy.

So what can mindful eating do for you?

Being more mindful about your nutrition and food choices helps you to hear what your body is telling you about hunger cues and satisfaction. It helps you become more self-aware of what the body and mind are telling you or if it is trying to trick you, it enables you to determine when you are hungry, and how and what is best to support it.

Think about it this way and say to yourself

“I value my body enough to be mindful of what I put into it and attentive to the way I eat.”

Eating better gets easier when the words

“I can’t have that” turn in “I don’t want that.”

Here are some of my tips on how to begin your journey to mindful eating today.

1. Be present with your food and eat without distraction

Eating without distraction may seem simple at first, but once you begin, you may find it to be quite challenging. However, it’s a crucial step towards mindful eating and lifestyle change. Being fully present with your food means sitting down at a TABLE with your food and just focusing on enjoying your food and appreciating the tastes and flavours it provides. No TV. No phone. No reading. No working on the laptop just you, your food and your full attention.

2. Make a choice and commitment each day to change

There will never be a better time for you to start eating mindfully than right now. Now is the perfect time to reclaim your energy and start living the life you’ve been craving for years. Ask yourself today what do you want from your life? Hold yourself accountable for your future self. Stephen Covey author of The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People says ” Accountability breeds response-ability. Hold yourself accountable, and the mind and body will respond.

3. Stay calm and keep your body in a relaxed state

To digest your food and absorb nutrients properly, your body must be in a relaxed. It’s all too often that we are eating while multitasking and on-the-go.

When we activate the stress response in our bodies, we are in a heightened state of anxiety and will scoff down whatever is in front of us with a second thought of whats in it or how it benefits our health and well-being

When we’re multitasking while eating, we are unaware of our internal hunger and fullness cues that help us to identify when we are satisfied and can stop eating to the point when we are fit to burst. It becomes so easy to overeat and to still feel hungry after eating a whole meal.

If you have the desire, discipline and motivation, it takes to transform and change the way you eat and live the life you truly deserve you can find out more on my complimentary mindful lifestyle change course here.
