Chase Harmer has been an entrepreneur since the age of 19. He started building technology almost 8 years ago, and is now the Founder & CEO of PayCertify, a globally connected FinTech marketplace that makes it easy to pay and get paid.
What does PayCertify do?
PayCertify has set out to be the card issuer for the internet. When you want to issue virtual cards or payments, we want you to think of us. It’s a different approach from Stripe, our biggest competitor, because they’ve focused on being the go-to for payment processing. Their plan is to focus on payments and use that to pull you into the rest of their ecosystem. At PayCertify, we’ve focused on issuing first, because we know that everyone who sells something online needs to spend money to run their business. We let our customers issue payments and earn 2% unlimited cashback on all spend for any campaign anywhere in the world.
What were you most afraid of when launching your business?
Honestly, my biggest fear was how others would respond. I’d been in the industry for so long that I had a lot of relationships and connections. When I went out with a product, I didn’t know what to expect. But I realized that no one knows what they’re doing. We’re all putting ourselves out there and learning as we go. The people who have the guts to try are the ones who succeed.
What’s one trait that helped you to become a successful entrepreneur?
I prefer taking action over sitting and thinking about it. I don’t waste a lot of time once I decide what I want and how I’m going to get it. My willingness to go out on a limb has been huge for my company and myself.
