Often times if our relationships at home are not healthy, then our workplace is affected and vis verse. There are a few tips that I would like to offer. Implementing these tips will enable you to either work through the stress or alleviate the stress so that there is a better balance between the two and you are able to have peace of mind in both places. It isn’t always easy balancing the two however, following these tips can help you do just that!

Tip #1. Make sure you are leaving home with a clear mind. If the environment at home is foggy be sure to ask questions. Never assume. Assuming can lead to spending the entire day at work attempting to process what is going on at the home front. Whether those questions are asked at night or in the morning make sure you and your partner communicate until clarity is gained. I believe it is best to do it at night so that you allow yourself enough time to dialogue. And if the conversation doesn’t go as planned, then you don’t have to go to work right after that grungy conversation, and have to de-stress, and then get ready mentally to take on a long day of work.

Tip #2. Self-care. One of the things that really stresses my clients out is having to choose between doing what they have to do to pay the bills and doing what they want to do that will satisfy their heart space. I find that oftentimes, people end up veering more towards doing what they have to do, because we have to live, we have to survive. And they never get the chance to do the things that they want to do, that would allow them to live, and flourish, and empower them, and nurture them in ways that can give them more of what they need to actually go out there and create a better quality life. It is very important to not only do the things that you have to do, but also incorporate things you like to do. For example, work is something we have to do; it pays the bills. However, taking a peaceful walk at the beach or park may be something you like to do that relieves you from daily stress. Both are just as important in creating balance and providing the recharge you need.

I had a situation with a wonderful assistant that worked for me, and she had a great opportunity to work with Beyoncé playing the drums. Drums were her heart, that’s just something that she just loved to do. She brought that opportunity to me and said that she wasn’t going to take it because she didn’t want to let me down. She didn’t want to not honor her commitment that she made to me and the Dr. Bryant team. When I expressed to her that I wanted her to go and live out her dreams and I’d still be here, she wasn’t able to do that. And so, I decided to fire her, so that she could go ahead and pursue her dreams. That moment created a lot of stress for both of us. It created stress in myself because I had to fire her, and she didn’t understand the reason I was doing that yet. And, because I was helping her help herself get to a place of doing what she loves, and living that life of her dreams, that most of us end up taking to our graveyard versus implementing and manifesting. So, at the end of me firing her and her going out to play drums, she is now a wonderful drummer who is doing great things, not only for Beyoncé, but on different television shows. She’s playing drums for huge A-list celebrities, she’s been able to travel the world, not only by air, but also on boat. And she’s been able to play drums on cruises for A-list celebrities and big companies and make a wonderful living- much more than I was paying her at the time — doing what she loves. And although it created stress on both ends, the leap of faith that we both had has allowed me to empower her to do what she loves to do. In retrospect, it empowered me as well, because I was able to be a part of someone’s journey and catapult her to the place, she’s at now: living out her dreams. And so, for me, that’s the big reward, to be able to get people back in alignment with what they really love and understanding that they can do that. There is a level of stress that comes along with it, but there’s a level of stress that comes along with anything you want in life. So, do what you love there will always be things we “have” to do.

Tip #3. Create the day you want. Upon rising in the morning tell yourself, “I’m going to have an amazing day.” “All the things that make me happen are going to happen today.” While taking a shower or getting dressed, put on some music that makes you feel happy and full on life. Send out a text message to your best friend or family saying, “I love you. I hope you have a great day!” And guess what? More than likely you will receive a text message back saying, “I love you too, and you have a great day!” So, what did you just do? You just created your circumstance and made your world what you need it to be, by taking the action called proactive in your life. You got what you needed regardless of what happens at home or work or has or has not been given to you. By following these tips, you will learn that, this is most important in your life today, and forever.
