As entrepreneurs, there is one constant – we never have enough time and we always have a long long long list of things to get done! We love what we do – and we are willing to do whatever it takes to get it done. We work very long hours, often it’s a side business to the day job, and often it’s flexed around the children – so we work late into the night when they’ve gone to bed. As Entrepreneurs we are hardwired for success and we feel constantly overwhelmed.

The reality is we’ll never get it all done, as soon as one is ticked off another quickly appears, and so it goes on. It’s easy to quickly feel overwhelmed and burnt out! Infact burnout and Adrenal Fatigue are on the increase, and Adrenal Fatigue is interestingly known as the Entrepreneurs Burnout!

While Adrenal Fatigue isn’t a recognised medical diagnosis, it is “code” for a much bigger, more widespread problem: pervasive, chronic, mental and physical overwhelm.

So I am not a medical practioner. I am however a Business Coach and coach busy business owners. So as an entrepreneur, mum to 5 (was a single mum for 9 years) Business Coach who gets Results, diagnosed with ME and menopause in the same year – thought I was losing my mind! High performer, often overwhelmed, ambitious and determined.

I was diagnosed with Adrenal Fatigue in 2017 and I want to share a few of my top tips on how you can prevent and control the this, and stop yourself from feeling overwhelmed.

  1. Do what you do best and outsource the rest! Outsource it- buy in help. If you think you can’t afford it I would argue you can’t afford not to!

  2. Avoid the last minute stress inducing deadlines, instead manage your procrastination head on and be consistent in what you do.

  3. Get out in nature – 20 minutes a day moving outside will help.

  4. Rest when you need to – I love a nap! That’s why Google have nap pods. Genius idea!

  5. Mindfullness – get good at calming your life and your thoughts down.

  6. Yoga is not only great for your body, it’s great for your mind too and calms the cortisol

  7. Hydrate throughout the day – drink more water

  8. Get enough sleep. You may think that working intio the early hours is the answer to you getting it all done. But this will not help in the long term. Many Entrepreneurs burn the midnight oil – this is not the answer. Instead… get some help.

  9. Doing things that bring you that you love, love what you do – endorphins help calm cortisol

  10. Gratitude – stress can’t exist in the presence of it, so what are you grateful for today?

  11. Seek professional support. I love my Kinelogist – she has changed my life!
