No doubt, goal setting is one of the effective ways to accomplish something great in life, especially the tough ones. Whereas, the size of your goal will determine the size of your achievements. David Joseph Squarth once said, “Think little goals and expect little achievements. Think big goals and win big success.”

Aside from the fact that most of our important goals are also the hardest goals to achieve. Does that mean you shouldn’t set high goals for yourself, or you shouldn’t set New Year resolutions for yourself?

Even research supports predictions that the most effective performance seems to result when goals are specific and challenging when they are used to evaluate performance and linked to feedback on results and create commitment and acceptance.

However, we all have different reasons for settings goals, but the reason why majority fail is that most goals are largely unspecified, unfocused, and without a perfect plan to sustain them to the end of the journey.

Below, therefore, are ways to make a bold move towards your hardest goals

1. Believe the possibility:

Yes, you wish you could have your own business and stop working for someone, move your company to the next level, walk up to that lady and tell her how you feel, earn up to $100,000 before the mid of the year, and lots more. But every time you think about all your hardest goal, you doubt if you could archive them. You rarely see possibilities and that is the reason you still find yourself setting the same goals every time.

Your first impression towards anything you plan to do goes a long way if you’re going to archive it or not. Majority of people who failed to archive something great did not because they didn’t set goals, but because they couldn’t see possibilities in their goals.

Most successful persons like J.K Rowling, Oprah Winfrey, Nicholas Dutko of Auto Transport Quote Services, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, amongst others, often cite that the secret to their success lies in the power of the mind.

No matter how hard your goal might be, the first step to achieve it is to believe it is possible. The power of mind goes a long way in achieving any goal. You need to believe in yourself and in your abilities to achieve anything in life.

2. Analyze your goal one after the other:

In analyzing our goals, we get basic insights on how to ride towards the achievement.

It’s important to list down and write anything you want to achieve, as it increases the chance of getting a positive result faster.

Also, analyzing your goals will help with creative planning, as well as provide guidance and direction, motivate and inspire you to know the next step to take.

In fact, A Harvard business study revealed remarkable statistics relating to goal setting and success. The study shows that 14 percent of people who have goals are 10 times more successful than those without goals. The 3 percent with written goals are 3 times more successful than the 14 percent with unwritten goals.

3. Set a time-frame:

When goals are time-bound they keep you accountable and focused by adding a sense of urgency. Saying you want to lose excess body fat is vague, and vague goals are definitely not achievable.

Select a particular day on the calendar, check it every day and work towards it – break it down into weekly and monthly. Doing this, you’ll be able to monitor your progress and know how close you are in achieving it. It’s better when you set goals with a specific mindset.

For example, if 10 hours is given to 30 people for an examination, 10 people might decide to finish in 3 hours, which means they achieved their goal before the set time, while the remaining 20 people still have 7 hours left, some will achieve theirs while some will not. But the purpose of setting a time frame in an examination is to have a sense of urgency! So as setting a time limit for goals, increases the chance of achieving it within a specific period.

4. Overcome the fear of failure:

The Fear of failure is one thing we have to overcome to achieve our goals. We are all humans, so it is natural to be afraid of failure.

Meanwhile, it’s important to know that there is a possibility of failure in anything you want to achieve. If you are afraid of failure you shouldn’t bother to set goals in the first place, because hard goals encounter challenges which might sometimes lead to failure; so you must be ready to face your challenges and overcome failure.

Research has shown that the best outcomes are created when we balance positive thinking with visualizing the future obstacles and struggles we will encounter.

However, there are ways to reduce the fear of failure and increase your chance of success.

  • Learn to think in a positive way
  • Analyze all potential outcomes
  • Look at the worst situation that could happen
  • Have a second plane in case if one fails

Most importantly, overcoming your fear of failure and having confidence over your goal gives you a solid assurance of achievement.

By Line:

“Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success.” – Pablo Picasso.

Be obliged to make massive success this year by taking a very bold step towards your hardest goals!
