If you would rather listen to an orchestra of nails on a chalkboard than hear the sound of your alarm clock, you are missing the chance to turn your day into something epic.

Research shows that our mornings set the tone for our entire day so why not start by stacking the odds in your favor?

What if just 23 minutes of your morning could leave you feeling like a superhero?

Say goodbye to the days of “I’m too busy” and dashing out the door. Here is a 23 minute morning power boost that will leave you ready to rock with Avengers.

STEP 1 / MIND MAGIC — The secret sauce of the powerhouse personalities like Lebron James, Oprah Winfrey and Will Smith is their powerful mindset. To start building your own “super power” mindset, begin your day by setting a deliberate intention for the day.

What is your desired outcome?

How would you like to feel by the time that the day is done?

Resist the urge to start figuring out how you will achieve this. Your mind’s ability to create lies in your ability to simply imagine the desired outcome. Will you feel exhilarated? Relieved? Victorious?

Now, spend the first 5 minutes of your day focusing on this intention. This could take the form of a 5-minute meditation or simply 5 minutes of deliberate focus.

Pick a method that resonates with you and get in a position that allows you to focus.

In a real hurry?

Try a mirror meditation (but do this after step 4 so that your high intensity moves and groves don’t undo your grooming awesomeness).

Yes, as you are doing your bathroom prep, click onto your favorite meditation and instead of closing your eyes, stare into your eyes.

You might feel awkward having a conversation with yourself eye to eye but give it a whirl. Especially in the context of a meditation, the results can be empowering, quick and massive.

Even a 5-minute meditation like this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3RxXiFgkxGc&t=2s can solidify your intention and set a positive tone for your entire day.

STEP 2 / “UNSTUCK” YOUR FLOW — Nothing jump starts your mental power like literally getting the lead out — or the pen.

Not a fan of writing? You may want to blow past that objection for 5 minutes of your morning. Celebrities ranging from Jennifer Anniston to Lady Gaga and Ronald Reagan swear by the power of their journals. Leonardo Da Vinci and Einstein both kept massive handwritten logs of their dreams and discoveries. Starting to get the picture?

To get your mental juices flowing, try this 5 minute “journal hack”. Write down the following:

  1. YOUR INTENTION FOR THE DAY
  2. 5 THINGS THAT YOU ARE GRATEFUL FOR
  3. 5 THINGS YOU HAVE GOING FOR YOU
  4. 5 RECENT SUCCESSES (on some days, this might simply be getting out of bed and being willing to try to smile through your challenges)
  5. ONE THING THAT YOU WILL DO TO CELEBRATE OR PAMPER YOURSELF TODAY
  6. YOUR THEME SONG FOR THE DAY
  7. 1 ACHIEVABLE GOAL THAT YOU WILL ACCOMPLISH TODAY (AND HOW YOU WILL CELEBRATE THAT)

Take a moment to reread what you have written and feel the roar.

STEP 3 / BE EXCITING, UNEXPECTED AND REMARKABLE – Ask Siri (or the Android equivalent) to remind you later in the afternoon to do something “exciting, unexpected and remarkable”.

When your reminder pops up, let your mind get creative. Will you do something remarkable at work? Maybe reach out to a dream client that could change your game?

Maybe buy someone a dozen sunflowers or plan a surprise adventure quest?

Maybe simply change the name of your phone from Ashley’s iPhone to “Make This Moment Awesome”?

Play with it and make it fun!

STEP 4 / ROCK THE KASBAH — Pick 5 minutes of high intensity movement and get your heart racing. Prefer yoga and stretching — or even blasting out a few dance moves?

Perfect! Bring it on!

“When our body moves, our minds groove.”

Even 5 intense minutes releases those great feeling endorphins and you are well on your way to finding your super power!

STEP 5 / GET SMOOTH — Spend your last few power minutes blending up a nectar worthy of your favorite super hero.

For faster gratification, fill up your blender the night before, pop it into the frig and then just grab and whirl before you head out the door.

Great brain ingredients are avocado, leafy greens, tumeric, blueberries, coconut oil —even dark chocolate. Flavor it up with bananas, mango, mint, protein powder… Need some ideas? Click here to get a link to 3 of my own favorite elixir recipes.

So there you are, Superheroes! Twenty-three minutes of pure awesomeness building!

Grab your inner super power cape and go — because today is the perfect day to leap tall buildings and leave your own incredible impact on this lovely, ever-changing world.
