Jess Crow, founder of Crow Creek Designs, is a woodworker with a difference. Over the years, Jess helped dozens grow and succeed by teaching them how to turn everyday items into works of art.

In this article, Jess shares advice on how she handles stress and dominates her field.

Overcoming setbacks

As a child, Jess suffered from low self-esteem. Her self worth was zero. She grew up in an abusive home and had to turn to drugs, alcohol, and self-mutilation for comfort. Overcoming the troubles from her past wasn’t easy.

Jess shares, “I had to learn to love myself, so I could accept the positive feedback I got from people about my art. Not an easy feat by any means but doable! Doable by anyone!”

She also sought help from loved ones. There was a time Jess preferred to kick the bucket than ask for help. Over Time, she realized this wasn’t the right path to travel.

Beating the heat

Stress is something we all go through, and it’s usually caused by workload or lack of proper rest.

Jess combats stress by writing a list of all her tasks for the day; she puts down the simple ones too. Minor activities like getting dressed can give us a boost and brighten our day once we scratch it off our to-do list.

You should also remember that no condition is permanent.

Jess shares, ” Remember that It won’t last forever, all stressful situations are life-altering events, but eventually, you’ll push through it.”

Here are some other activities Jess recommends you do to beat stress; Try writing down what you’re frustrated about and look for ways to solve them.

For some people, not acknowledging some problems can lead to a backlog of anger and frustration.

The second thing Jess recommends isn’t necessarily an activity: Taking breaks and doing things that make you happy.

It won’t kill to have a pedicure done or go to the beach once in a while.

Grooming Success!

What are Jess’s tips for a successful habit? Well, Jess likes to keep things simple, nothing fancy.

Little things like having a flexible schedule have brought a lot of change to her life. She also completes specific daily tasks; by specific, I mean tasks she dislikes.

“I make sure I complete a task I dislike each day. For example, I hate working out, but with my condition, I have to burn the calories if I want to live this life.”- Jess.

 Being Different

To Jess, work is similar to taking a journey; she comes from a place where she had to make do of simple materials and tools, she’s going to a place quite different from her starting position, and she’s carrying along with individuals that will help her get there!

Apart from this, Jess’s color process is exponentially different from other woodworkers. Her unique designs and distinct mindset is what sets her apart from the rest!

Sparking Motivation

What keeps you motivated? Every one of us has something we draw inspiration from in tough situations. Since this is on a personal level, I’ll let Jess Jess it over from here;

” Staying motivated can he hard! When you look through social media, you will see a lot of newbies enter the game and manage to get the numbers you’ve been working so hard for.

But this shouldn’t bring you down; the Trick is to remember the story about the elephant and the dog. Here is my favorite excerpt from that story:

‘ There is something I want you to understand. What I am carrying is not a puppy but an elephant. I only give birth once every two years.

When my baby hits the ground, the earth feels it. When my baby crosses the road, humans stop and watch in admiration, what I carry in my womb draws attention, So what I am taking is mighty and great.’

Wise words from the elephant, I want you to understand that mighty thing takes a lot of time and effort. And for newbies!

You have to remember that if you keep it real and push at your own pace, you will get there, Without a doubt.
