As I contemplate the notion of knowing your truth, I often wonder whether some people believe that living their truth is ego driven. We know that it isn’t. The ego is counter opposite to our truth. In fact, our truth is stronger than we know. If you choose, you can rise above your ego if you trust yourself enough to ‘be.’ You may tend, however, to mask feelings of truth depending upon how you’re feeling day to day. You may think that your ego dictates your truth because it’s times when you’re feeling strong with bursts of confidence or a feeling of empowered self that you think you see your truth.
And, yet, I ask you, what happens when you have moments when you question yourself and hold limiting beliefs? Do you doubt your truth then? When do you begin to embody your truth? The truth that is you, you in any state of being. These are things I think about. I believe that the overriding aspect of what holds you back and/ or stops you from doing what you know to be true is fear. And, in reality, fear is not your enemy. In actual fact, it goes much deeper than that. It’s your inability to embrace your intuition, to trust yourself, to trust your truth, and, to make things even harder, to live your trust.
How do like them apples? It’s a lot to take it. Imagine, however, if you started to trust yourself. You would eliminate “maybes” to get to “yes” and “no” with greater ease. You would eradicate self-talk to create a frictionless flow– your new reality. And you would unleash life on your own terms– you, being unapologetically you. That sounds great to me! I’m not sure you recognize this, but you are the love you’ve been waiting for. That may sound schmaltzy, and, yet, it’s true.
It’s kind of exciting that you hold the key. If you’ve metaphorically ‘locked yourself into a cage,’ then use your key to unlock it. Dive into the “never been seen before” YOU because you hold the power to be empowered. You had the key all along. The question is: What are you going to do about it now that you know?
You can’t just go back to the same old, same old now that you know that it starts with you. Or will you? I guess the question is, What’s it going to take for you to start embracing your fears so you can reveal your truth to create the life that you want? That’s a mouthful. It’s worth re-reading. Go ahead. Re-read it. I’ll wait. It’s worth absorbing.
It’s not easy going from autopilot to putting yourself into gear. It takes energy and effort. At the end of the day, you may be thinking that you’re too exhausted just trying to lead your life to even think about making it better. There lies the problem. You need first to identify that “YOU” are a priority, that you come first above all else. It is not a selfish act. In fact, you are better able to serve others when you have discovered your truth–how to be your truth.
It starts by acknowledging the times when you feel fear. I know, for example, that my fear is grounded in what I learned at a very early age. This doesn’t come from my experiences but from those of my father and my mother and from their father and mother, from generations way before my birth when circumstances and conditions were very different. And, yet, we believe what our parents tell us until we, well, don’t, until we figure things out for ourselves. It takes a long time to reprogram what we’ve learned if it hasn’t served us well. It’s not easy. It is, however, worth it.
As we take this journey together, I’m going to encourage you to take mindful notes of where you are. Start to think about and then identify your fears. Are they real or imagined? If they haven’t happened yet, then they’re imagined. Once you start to face your fears, invite them in as friends. You will quickly recognize that they have always been there to protect you. You now need to let fear know that it can stand down, that there is nothing to fear. This is your moment of truth, the moment when you decide that fear is a friend not a foe, that you have a choice in what you do and how you will respond.
