This post is one of a series of posts relating to the World Health Organization’s “Depression: Let’s Talk” campaign.

Though millions of people around the world are affected by a mental health condition, it’s an issue we don’t talk about nearly enough. The numbers are staggering: between 1990 and 2013, the number of people suffering from depression and/or anxiety around the world increased by nearly 50 percent. Close to 10 percent of the global population is affected by one or both of these conditions.

As this video from the World Health Organization shows, depression affects every aspect of a person’s life. When you’re depressed, your health, your work, and your relationships are affected. That’s why Thrive Global is collaborating with WHO to encourage dialogue about mental health.
