I have a new superhero.

Anne Brokenbrow, age 104, was recently arrested and taken in handcuffs to a waiting police car from her care home in England.

She smiled and relished the entire experience.

Apparently it was a bucket list item of hers to be arrested. She’d never been on the wrong side of the law in her life. The local community came together to give her her dream.

Confession

OK, I’ve had a secret (secret to all but my husband) goal to get arrested one day.

Because I dot all my I’s and cross all my T’s, I highly doubt it would be for any sort of criminal act. But I could see myself getting arrested in my 80s or 90s at a protest for social justice of some sort.

That’s why this story spoke to me. A woman who’s always been mindful to do the right thing wanted to see what it feels like to get in a bit of trouble.

And it reminded me to never give up on your list of dreams and goals.

“It is never too late to be what you might have been.” — George Eliot

Thinking it’s too late for you to go for it is the killer of dreams!

Kids never think that way, but older people do. Maybe the fountain of youth is in continuing to try new things and reach new goals even in your 100s.

There’s always something new you can learn or do. Learn how to code, take ballet, learn a new language, or get arrested for the first time!

Here’s a story about something new I learned this year:

I’m Gonna Go For It

Another lesson learned.

Anne didn’t keep her dream all to herself. She shared it with others, then others joined together to make it happen for her.

What can we learn from this?

It’s tempting to keep our deepest desires private.

What if people laugh? What if we don’t succeed? What if we jinx ourselves by speaking out loud about it?

Nonsense. Anne’s wish never would have materialized if she hadn’t shared it with others.

No on can read your mind. You’ll be amazed at the help that shows up when you start telling people what you want.

The universe is conspiring for you success. Let the people around you help you too.
