As part of his 4:44 album promotion, Jay-Z has been releasing videos called “Footnotes,” featuring “star-studded discussions about complex topics,” Evan Minsker writes for Pitchfork. The latest clip is “centered on emotional vulnerability,” Minsker writes, featuring comedians Chris Rock, Michael Che and Trevor Noah, along with musician Meek Mill and actor Michael B. Jordan.
Jordan discusses the stigma of therapy in black communities, Minsker writes, and Jay-Z agrees, saying, “We can’t go to get therapists. You crazy at that point. It’s like ‘A psychiatrist? You crazy.’” He continues, “Three of your brothers are dead and your mother used to beat you. You need help. Someone needs to talk you through why you’re feeling these feelings.”
