Entering the Summer season in the southern hemisphere and Winter in the North, we see how the planet is happily self-regulating herself through interdependence, opposites and compliments. The same goes for us as humans, our ability to self-regulate can be enhanced by joining forces with nature and following her seasonal patterns. That’s where health and wellbeing begins, in natures regenerative foundational flow.

Summer brings the fire element and Winter the Water element. As it happens, they are the most yang (fire) and the most yin (water) elements so the balance of these two within us provides the balance of momentum (fire) and flow (water). Nature knows what she’s doing if we tune into her methods.

We all strive to design our lives around our calendars and external expectations but what if we integrated the natural influences of the moon, the stars and seasons to provide energetic support and direction? Recalibrating our lives can be so much more fun when we look at our year seasonally and devise a plan that includes the elemental influences. Most of us believe that we all need to be moving at one pace throughout the year, achieving the same number of goals each week and sustaining our lives according to our workload. This is where we tend to give away our power and allow life to run us rather than designing our lives intentionally.

The ‘Forces of Nature’ all reside within us and can be accessed anytime with our focused intention. For example, I use the transformative quality of the Summer element to remove and release energies I no longer want or need. I do this in my healing and coaching work with clients as well. Our intention to make change or transformation in our lives is all in how we navigate our awareness and intention.

Remember, our ability to believe in ourselves is equal to our ability to create our reality. When we believe we can make change or have what we want, we will receive it with:

  1. Focused intention
  2. Complete faith in ourselves as powerful creator s
  3. Believing in our ability to let go and love life while the manifestation process is brewing
  4. Pure trust that we will receive the inspired guidance for us to take action.
  5. Gratitude and reverence for ourselves and the process as it unfolds according to what we are able to believe and receive in that moment
  6. Letting go of expectations, timing and how it all occurs
  7. Excitement and joy as we receive, step forward and take action

Only our mind and its belief systems stand between us and our desires. We all have the same creative abilities to manifest what we want, however we are also in different levels of awareness with different stories and beliefs playing out subconsciously. These hidden aspects of ourselves are the lost gold that is waiting to be uncovered and lovingly integrated. Respect, accept and love these parts for they are the feedback we need to observe and forgive.

Using the elemental forces of nature, we can support ourselves and what we want to manifest in our lives seasonally with the earths energies through nature immersion, creative visualisation and/or meditation. Here in Sydney Australia, the fire element emerges in summer to invigorate the month of December leading up to Christmas. It’s perfect timing for passion, fun, joy, laughter, building relationships and celebrating life. The Fire element is also represented by the sun and it’s ability to recharge our biological functions to optimise our energy and help us expand our intentions through love and joy.

A simple example of a creative visualisation to can implement is a bush fire where the element of fire sweeps through our inner terrain and burns the debris accumulated in 2018. We don’t need to attach anything to it, just visualise the fire burning through our inner-forest clearing what we no longer need and feel the flames flickering inside you. The feeling in the body is the essential aspect for successful intentions. After any fire, the earth regenerates and restores itself as new growth can now be supported and nourished. The same applies to all our intentions.

Similarly, the water element in the Northern hemisphere Winter months is a time to rest and restore, go inward and nourish body, mind and soul. Allowing ourselves to retreat and explore our intuitive side is what provides the flow for our intentions as well as the inner-healing that can take place and be supported by the Water element. Inward motion is the theme for Winter where our inner-world takes priority and we can spend time navigating our intuitive depths.

In the book ‘Hidden Life Of Tree’s’ by Peter Wohlleben, he talks about the differences in the outer skin of tree’s. Each species has a different appearance and ages differently. The shedding of their skin and their predisposition to certain tendencies is no different to our own uniqueness expressing itself. Tree’s also move through life stages of infancy, youth, adulthood and elderly just as we do. Their genetic predisposition is similar to our constitutional tendencies so doesn’t it make sense that we align with our inner elemental forces to navigate our energy and our lives?

In a practical sense, Chinese medicine diagnostic frameworks describe detailed aspects of the 5 elements in and out of balance according to organ function, facial characteristics, the sound we make, the smell we exude, the tastes we experience and the colour of our skin. All these intuitive sensory aspects provide information about what is going on inside our body and mind. The 5 element diagnosis has been around for thousands of years and is widely used in the world of alternative medicine. These diagnostic tools provide the basis for health maintenance and prevention as well as restoring health and wellbeing.

Allowing the Forces of Nature to be part of our lives is a choice and simply participating in nature is the first step towards natural rebalancing. We are receiving healing elemental influences all the time. Wellness is the first step in our deeper journey so it’s important to integrate what we can as naturally as possible to build sustainable foundations for our life path. Wherever we are on the planet, noticing the difference in our wellbeing by joining forces with nature and learning more about how we can master our health and wellbeing on all levels provides the foundations for sustainable living.
