For a special episode of The Thrive Global Podcast, Thrive Global founder and CEO Arianna Huffington sat down with Katy Perry as part of the singer’s “Witness World Wide” livestream promoting the release of her new album Witness. The conversation ranged from sleep and meditation to social media and digital connection.

When talking about Perry’s recent appearance on James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke, Huffington asked Perry if she would be willing to release her grudge and forgive Taylor Swift.

“Are you ready to let it go?” Huffington asked.

“I am ready to let it go,” Perry said. “I forgive her and I’m sorry for anything I ever did, and I hope the same from her. I think it’s actually like, I think it’s time. There are bigger fish to fry, and there are real problems in the world. You know what I’m saying? And I love her, and I want the best for her. And I think she’s a fantastic songwriter, and I think that, you know, if we, both her and I, can be representatives of strong women that come together despite their differences, I think the whole world is going to go like, ‘Yeah, well we can do this.’ I don’t know. Like maybe I don’t agree with everything she does and she doesn’t agree with everything I do, but I just really truly want to come together in a place of love and forgiveness and understanding and compassion.”

The forgiveness comes the day after Swift’s return to streaming music services the same night that Perry released her new album, Witness.

Perry seemed visibly relieved as she threw her hand up in the air and broke out into “Let It Go,” the famous song from Disney’s hit film, Frozen.

“There’s a lot of other things out there in the world that people need to be focused on, and I truly, like, God bless her on her journey. God bless her. Honestly,” Perry said.

The two discussed the healing power of forgiveness along with many other topics ranging from sleep (Perry needs 8 hours) to social media (“I don’t need FOMO!” Perry said) to self-love. They traded stories of wake-up calls and learning the importance of recharging. For Huffington, it was waking up in a pool of blood after collapsing from exhaustion in 2007. Perry talked about taking time for herself, “I had to press the reset button.”
