What is the best way to beat a virus (Corona or anything else)? Keep your immune system strong and working for you. Here are four simple steps will help keep you healthy.

Note: This article is meant for general information and will not cure anyone’s compromised immune system.

1. Eat more fruit and veggies. Fruits and veggies have the vitamins and minerals you need to kick your immune system into high gear. There is no single “magic” fruit or veggie, but the more you eat them, the better off you will be. Here’s the best part…while everyone else is over-buying packaged and processed foods, you can have your pick of the well-stocked produce section. Make soups and freeze them. Freeze fruits and veggies yourself and boost your immune system at the same time.

2. Stay hydrated. Our blood circulates better when we’re properly hydrated. We want our white blood cells to move through our system efficiently so they can detect intruders and eliminate them before they have a chance to take hold and make us sick. Our blood thickens when we’re dehydrated and doesn’t move as efficiently. Make sure it’s mostly water you’re drinking for best results.

3. Keep moving! Our lymph system is integral to our immune function. The only way to move lymph is to move our muscles. Stand up, sit down, walk, climb stairs, do jumping jacks in front of the computer or TV, get outside and hike far away from your neighbors. The LGD Alliance gives a thorough explanation of how your lymph system works with your immune system.

4. Meditate to reduce stress and boost your immune function. This study looked at all of the current Randomized Controlled Trials published before 2016 and concluded that meditation boosts immune function. More study is needed, but the results are encouraging. And, what’s the worst that can happen if you meditate? You reduce your blood pressure, reduce stress and anxiety, grow your gray matter, and very likely boost your resistance to illness.

We’re in this together. Stay healthy.
